I know it’s early to be thinking of Mother’s Day, but my Mom lives in Canada. And even though I can drive there in 12 hours, it takes weeks to get a package to her!
So, I’m getting my little (and light!) goodies ready to ship off today and needed to create a card. I have a stash of Mother’s Day cards I created for the magazine over the years, but I feel a good daughter would create something fresh and custom made just for her!
My Mother is NOT a card maker, scrapbooker, papercrafter or anything else crafty. I guess I inherited that gene from my Dad! She is, however, a great cook and a passionate gardener. So, it was convenient that we got a wonderland snowfall last week that covered all my flowers and blossoming trees with snow. I spent an hour taking pictures of it all.

This picture of snow crystals clinging to my pear blossoms was so pretty I knew I wanted to use it. I found the perfect quote on Google and added the text with Photoshop. Canada has long, hard winters… this card reflects the hope of spring and will also let her know how much her daughter loves her.
If you’d like to play around with the picture and add your own custom text (or if you’d just like to use it as is), download it at http://myeyeqdownloads.shutterfly.com.

Unfortunately, my hard drive bit the dust and I lost all of my precious fonts. However, I remember that the script letters were ‘Selfish’ and the other one was something like Ashley Capital Sophia. I can’t find it anywhere but I’m not giving up, it was one of my favorites. When and if I find it I’ll post that info here. Thanks! Sue

OMG woman! I LOVE this picture. I have been doing that a lot for online “cards” myself…especially lately since I seem to be getting later and later in getting things ready to drop in the mail. Even if you can’t get a card in the mail, I believe friends/family like getting pictures you took yourself with a note that lets them know you are thinking of them. THANKS so much for sharing the image.
