felt.
We all grew up with felt; it’s one of those fond crafting memories of childhood. It’s fuzzy, warm and comes in a rainbow of colors. You most likely have a stack of it somewhere in your own craft room.
It’s time to FIND it! Felt is an inexpensive and creative way to add a little ‘something’ to you next project. Here’s my latest card:
I used my Cuttlebug to cut the felt. I had to shim it with a piece of cardstock to get a nice clean cut, so be prepared to experiment a bit. I also used this adorable new paper from Cosmo Cricket and one of the cool new Colorbox inks from Clearsnap, SURF.
Besides die-cutting, try:
- Layering felt accents for even greater dimension
- Sewing it by hand or with your machine
- Letting a piece of felt peek through die-cut silhouettes
- Embellishing it with buttons, brads, eyelets or ribbon
- Painting, writing or stamping on it (experiment with this)

When felt became popular, it reminded me of the felt from years back. I got a card with good felt on it. It made such a difference to the card. I would love the felt.

Thanks so much for the tips for die-cutting felt. I’ve been meaning to buy some felt and try it with my Cuttlebug for a while now, so it would be perfect if I won some felt, since I can’t seem to remember to buy it when I’m at the store!
I love this idea. You are so creative. I cant wait to try felt. I am kinda a newbie to card making, although I have many books about it I get brain freeezes and dont know what to do, you make it a lot easier and less stressful to start making cards, the felt just adds to the ideas.

I have tried felt on my sizzix, but I haven’t done any in a long time. Your assortment of colors in sure better than mine. I’ll have to get mine out and make some flowers. Thanks for the idea. Your card is very cute

I do have a bit of felt. I have used my die cuts on it and I have sewn it onto my card! It gives the card just that much more…oompf!
i dont use felt very often simply because i dont have much. i have some flowers that i got in a swap, but thats it. i do enjoy using them when i can though. im running out.
Ooh, I love felt. Thanks for the heads up about shimming it in a die cutting machinne. I will have to try that. I would love a sampling of your felt, those colors look so yummy

A wonderful color combo (my favorites) I tooooo have been meaning to cut my own felt, but have not yet given it a try.
I will definitely be doing some cutting, on my old but faithful Original Sizzix, this weekend.

Felt over a styrofoam ball and a mini ice cream cone (from the grocery store) make cute birthday party decorations and entertainment. Let each child/person decorate the top of their “ice cream” with glitter, sequins, beads etc as sprinkles =o)
