I just found your blog through the paper crafts website. What a fantastic giveaway you have. It’s great to see all of the advice dad’s have been giving their families through the years. My grandpa always gave me advice since my parents divorced when I was young and told me to “never count your chickens before the eggs hatch”. He became VP of sales of an insurance company before he passed away from cancer. When my mom finally remarried, my step-dad always kept telling me to “never play with matches” and “watch that lead foot of yours so I don’t have to pull you out of the car someday” since he was a fire captain. He’s now retired. My brother and I must have helped give him all of those gray hairs.
The best advice I got was from my grandpa. He told me to always go with my gut, if you go with with your gut you’ll never have any regrets.
P.S. Love the paper packs and thanks for the chance to win!
I was just thinking about him today(past away) because fathers day is Sunday and I always try to keep his memories alive…
My dads advise was to work hard and never do to others that I woudn’t want done to me…oh, man do I miss him soooo much…
What an awesome week of giveaways planned for next week…
Maybe I’ll win one of the Card Creations mag…..
As we get older the roles have started to change. His advice now is “Do what you think is the right”. Hopefully I have enough sage advice from all the people that have touched my life, not only my dad, to do what is right.
My dad was extremely conservative financially, advice that serves me well during these times. His mantras were “It’s a budget year” and “Interest is what the bank pays you!”
My father was a man of few words, but his kindness to all and his love of the Lord have always been fine examples for me to follow.
My dad always said to think before you speak.
I know this might sound different but my dad encouraged me to “grow-up”. It sounds kind of harsh but really it was some good advice.
Happy Father’s Day Dad!
one of the first things i remember: “don’t eat yellow snow.”
My dad always yelled at us never to play with doors (aka slamming them and trying to smash our fingers). I will never forget that… it more reminds me not to slam doors shut on people and ideas, but I still think about smashing my sisters fingers! Ouch!
I love this paper!! My dad gave me alot of good advice. Two in particular that I always follow–(1) Do my very best and then leave the rest to… and (2) No good deed goes unpunished! Thanks for the opportunity…Happy Father’s Day!!!!
Awesome prize! I was taught ‘treat others as you would want to be treated yourself’. A piece of wisdom that has shaped the way I live my life.
My dad always told me to do it right the first time! It applies to everything. marriage to making supper
The best advice I got from my dad was:
“Try your best. As long as you know you gave it your all, you can never be dissappointed in yourself.”
It’s so true. I love my dad! Thanks for a chance to win!
My Dad always told me to be true to myself, and everything else will fall in place and he was right!
Can’t wait to get my copy of this issue!
My dad’s best advice was to be wise (and tight) with money. He’s always been a great example of a hard working man. I’m so grateful for his example!
This kis kind of a werid one, but the best advice my Dad ever gave me is to never let my gas tank go down below 1/4 tank. Now as an adult he used my car and when he came back he said to me “Cassie, I thought I taught better than that!” I had no idea what he was talking about. It turned out that I was slightly below 1/4 tank…oops. A friend who was with me at the time still makes fun of me for that one and I don’t dare let it drop that low again.
One of the best advice that my dad has given me would probably be “don’t do anything stupid.” Thanks =)
I don’t remember any specific advice that he gave me but he was always very honest and candid. I always respected how he wasn’t afraid to share his feelings and the truth.
Not so much advice as honesty…he told me he was glad I was smart cause I definitely can’t sing.
His best advice to me….”Just be yourself”. I am so lucky to have the dad I have!
My Dad always would tell me to stash some money away for those rainy days!

I never got the chance to meet my dad. He died when my mom was still pregnant with me. But I do think he has been the reason why I came to be a lover of art. He was a great artist and I guess I got my artistic side from him.
Thanks for the opportunity to win!
The best advice my Daddy ever gave me was: include a little bit of entertainment money in your budget – even if it’s just $5/week – you’ll need it. And dates don’t have to be expensive!
My Dad is and always has been a “car guy”. He always told me–keep your car in good repair, your tires filled with enough air–it could save your life someday!”. I know, kinda funny advice, but I think my Dad saw too many people injured in accidents where cars in disrepair caused the accident! Happy Dad’s Day!
How fun!! One of the best things that my Dad told me was to remember when chosing something……go with the middle of the road. You don’t have to have the best or the cheapest, just dependable. (well…it doesn’t really apply to pattern paper but to most other things…LOL!)
Thank you for spotlighting this magazine! I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
The best advice I got from a father figure is treat others as you would want to be treated and respect is earned not just given.
The best advice was to do what makes you happy.
I always remember my dad reminding me that he is always there for me no matter what. Now that I am a parent myself I tell my children that all the time.
My dad’s advice…don’t ask the clerk at Home Depot for Wood screws made of wood….because screws are made of metal…not wood…not even when they’re called wood screws….rotfl…I was only 14 or 15 – how was I supposed to know the difference?
Show pride in your work and you will not have to worry about a job.
This has been true.
My dad has a very strong work ethic. I have gained that. Work hard and be dependendable.
The best advise my dad gave me was to make sure the basics were there and the rest would then have a good base to grow on.
Choose your battles. Know when to stand up and fight, and know when to just let it go.
My dad has always lived his faith in God, and his example has taught me so much.
The best advice I received from my dad was to “Trust yourself. You can be and do anything you dream.” He was truly ahead of his time.
My dad always has taught me to speak my mind!
I can’t thinkof any specific advice, but I always knew that my dad was there for me no matter what. And now, he’s quite ill, but I can still see in his eyes that he’s still there for me.
I just love love my dad! I feel very lucky to have him in my life, he once told “do well in school, pick a carrer path you will enjoy to do and all else will fall into place” and it has! funny that now I am lucky to be home with my children
My Dad advised me to do my best, and I have tried to do that throughout my life.
My dad is not one to ‘give advice’ but he has always taught by example – work hard, be a good person, treat everyone with respect, and family is #1.
My stepdad actually has been in my life a lot more, and he more so taught me things than actually wordy advice (he is a man of very few words). He taught me all about taxes, exercise and how to fix computer problems.
Hahaha, the best advice my father gave me? Well, I don’t think I appreciated it until adulthood (when do we ever?) but my father answered most of my questions with, “Go look it up.” Now I’m an incredibly independent learner who “looked up” how to do so many things and believe I have the ability to find and learn just about anything. Hehe, thanks dad! Oh, and he passed on a military-inspired work ethic to go above and beyond the call of duty to get a good job done and to help others. And you know what? I never really noticed until I sat here and thought about it just now. Now I gotta go squeeze him.
I’m sure that my dad has given me lots of good advice, but one piece of advice that stands out in my mind is this: “if there is something that you need to do, don’t put it off. Just say that you will work on it for half an hour and then if you feel like doing more, do it. If not, at least you’ve done it for half an hour. More often than not, you’ll continue a little bit longer.”
My dad’s best advise is Hold each day with your family dear, the days go by so fast.
My dad always said to marry a man that made me laugh every day…and I did, and I DO laugh every day
And so does my mom!
the best advise i got from my dad is “working hard pays off” and that is true on so many levels.
love those paper stacks!!!
My Dad hasn’t given me a lot of “advise” in words but he has in actions… work hard … enjoy life … Love Jesus!!!
I think the best advice my dad’s given me is “Don’t sweat the small stuff!”
