Looks like I’m starting off the “Groovin’ with the Go-to Gals” posts – how fun!
And, since yesterday was my super fabulous, once in a lifetime 44th birthday (gasp!), I thought I would share a few of the special cards I received.
This first one is from a dear friend all the way from Finland. I love how she has made the best of her resources (they don’t have a whole ton of scrapbooking product over there) and cared enough to create a handmade card.
I love the creativity of this one. Check out the letters made from fabric and ribbon…I want to try out this technique.
Photo cards are some of my favorites, too. This is from my sassy cousin Deb. The inside reads, “I believe you should live every day as if it’s your last. That is why I don’t have any clean laundry – because, come on, who wants to wash clothes on the last day of their life?!”
This one is from another friend. I love how she included a classic quote along with the real birthday candles. Fun!
This last one is from my Mother-in-Law. She always sends photo cards with cute (and sometimes embarrassing) photos of the recipient. My kids look forward to Grandma’s cards the most. My card features a lovely photo of Keith and I dressing up for someone else’s 40th birthday. Hee, hee!

Happy Birthday! I love the homemade cards my kids make me the most! They are so sweet and innocent and so proud of their work.
what great cards! my favorite to receive are the funny ones–i’ve saved a bunch of them just to go through every so often! [my favorite says, "looks like the birthday fairy just zapped you with another one!"] i’ll have to try the “wishes” card’s technique–it’s great!

I really like funny cards. After all, when you get to a certain age–you just have to laugh about it.
These cards were too cute. I especially liked the one made with the fabric and ribbon bits with stitching. My fav birthday card is a funny one. There’s no better gift than laughter!

Happy Birthday! I recently had a September birthday too!!! Yay us! I love the cards you received. Especially the one with the “embarrassing” photo. Too cute! My favorite type of birthday card is the ones that are either hand made, or re-usable. My Grandmother sent me one this year that had some sparkaly flowers on the outside that I am planning on cutting out and using on another card! Gotta love recycling!

I love handmade cards too. When someone cares enough to sit down and create something especially for “me”, I will cherish it forever. It means more than a store-bought card any day!

My favorite cards are handmade. The type is not as important to me as the love that goes into a handmade card. Those kind come from the heart instead of the store!!

I really like to give and receive funny cards… but every now and again I do enjoy a good mushy one for a special day.
Glad you had a super birthday. I give cards that are “just right” for the recipient–which is a wide variety of style. For myself–I like to receive home made cards no matter the style because I know it was made with love. If it is a store bought card (I know–gasp) I really like the sassy ones!
Happy Belated! September is FULL of b-days in my world. My favorite cards are the ones sent to me……I know, that wasn’t one of the options. I make and give away so many it’s nice to receive once in a while.

I like cards that give a lift, not too anything. But!!! I love the idea of sending photo cards of the recipient! Your MIL’s card and idea are great and will be added to my repitoire.

Happy Birthday! I love hand made cards, especially funny or goofy ones. My DH always gives me very elegant, serious and sappy cards and I like those too! I also like flower cards–love flowers!
