Merry Hallowistmas!

Jennifer Schaerer

Even though Halloween is still a month away, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…at least around here in the Paper Crafts editorial office! Our November/December issue is now on sale, so if you don’t subscribe and still need to get a copy, click HERE to get one.

Better yet, just subscribe — you’ll save yourself 40% and get the issue in your mailbox before it’s available on the newsstand. A subscription also makes a great gift, and — psssst, don’t tell anyone — Christmas is just around the corner. Hee hee!

We’re so excited about this cover, too. When we choose cards for our cover, they have to have a certain, well, something. Maybe it’s a color combination, or a particular style, or a good representation of the cards throughout the magazine. It’s usually an agonizing process because we always have so many fantastic cards to choose from, and this cover was no exception. It turns out that Rae Barthel (our cute Gallery Idol for 2009) and Kim Hughes (newly minted Paper Crafts Go-to Gal) were the best of the best for this issue, because their cards (TWO from Rae!) are the shining stars of this cover.

We also freshened up our cover layout a bit as well — can you tell what’s different?

Our November/December 2009 issue goes on sale TODAY!

Even though it’s Christmas in what we affectionately call “magazine time,” in reality it’s Halloween that’s up next. And we’re reminded of that every week when we have our team meeting, because we have an agenda item called Team Halloween Costume. You know that we take all festive occasions very seriously around here, and Halloween is one of the biggest — so of course it’s a topic in our weekly meeting.

This year we want to do something fun, because we’re a team of 7 women and one man. We’ve thought about cheerleader/football player (with Matt as the cheerleader…) and doctor/nurse (with Matt as the…nurse, of course!). But then we got to thinking that we could get a whole bunch of great ideas by asking our readers to toss in their collective two cents.

So whaddya think? Do you have a great idea for our group Halloween costume this year? Put it in the comments, and if we end up using your idea there will be a special something that comes your way from the Paper Crafts super stash of cool blog prizes.

Merry Hallowistmas to you,
Jennifer

P.S. Did I mention that we take Halloween very seriously? To give you an idea of just how far we take a theme, here’s a picture of us from Halloween 2008.

  2. Barbara says:

With as many comments as have been posted I don’t know if this was mentioned yet or not but here goes……in the spirit of Hallowistmas why not dress up like Santa and his reindeer………then you have the best of both holidays.

  3. Janet Sisk says:

You could be the fruit, like the fruit of the loom commercial a few years back! Or what about different cards from a deck of cards, you could be a royal flush! LOL Hope you have fun no matter what you decide to dress up as!

  4. jen says:

We were just talking about costumes at work- how about the whole gang from the Flintstones? ;)

  5. Brenda L. says:

I think you should use the theme, “Dukes of Hazzard”. Mike could be Daisey.

  6. Alicia says:

OK, I worked at a stamp company where the women totally outnumbered the men. Here is the best costume ever:

Polygamist husband and wives, it was hilarious! Everyone remembers it!

  7. Jan says:

Themes are always fun, I think you guys should try goverment workers ie police, post worker, you could have your own little city.

  8. Char- D says:

    How about steampunk!
    BTW Loved your hippie look.

  9. Joan B says:

I just sent in my subscription card. There is so much inspiration on line but I thought about it and decided that I NEEDED your magazine in my house every month. I need it for when I’m in a traffic jam, sitting in a waiting room and a million other places. Plus the photography is so much better than 90% of online pics. And, I can take the magazine into my stamp room for inspiration. We need to support publications that we love.

ps. how about dressing up as Christmas trees?

  10. SweetOrange says:

Snow White and the dwarfs? And you know who SW must be!

  11. Christina says:

    The cast of Charlie Brown!!!

  12. Elizabeth Williams says:

Muppets! I dressed as Miss Piggy one year for work-everyone loved it.

  13. Linda E says:

Well since there’s a total of 8 of you, I immediately thought of Snow White and the Seven Drwarfs with Matt as, what else, Snow White. Sorry Matt!

  14. Haven’t read all the posts, so hope this wasn’t taken! I’m going with Robert Palmer and his Addicted to Love video ladies….I know, I know…but I’m STILL an 80′s Music kinda girl at heart! Now I’ll be singing that song all day in my head!

  15. Samantha T. says:

Has anyone said Maria (Matt) and the Von Trap Children. You may have to have a few stand-ins for children, but this way you could go around singing songs from The Sound of Music all day.

  16. StampinCathy says:

What fun to rock out on Halloween. Maybe you could dress up like stamping tools, items, or even be a big card, scrapbook layout. You could be a Stampin Rock Band. I can’t wait to see what you guys pick and of course to see the awesome and inspiring pic.

  17. Nicole says:

THis was fun to think about, here are my ideas………….

Everyone dress up as a different hoilday (ex: Christmas, Easter, Halloween, etc)

    or

Everyone pick a Disney Character(or the Disney Princesses) and dress up as them and of course Matt has to be Mickey Mouse.

Can’t wait to see what u guys pick. Have a Happy Halloween

  18. What about doing the Wizard of Oz for your costumes? There are all sorts of great things you can come up with…Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow, Glenda, Lion….The Wicked Witch of the West….always room for a few from the Lollipop guild too!!! Can’t wait to see what you decide…

  19. Shari says:

How about characters from Alice In Wonderland? (Alice in Cardland?)
    ~Shari R.

  20. Melissa S. says:

How fun!! You guys should totally dress up like the characters in Lost. You all could wear grey jumpers with your names and “duties.” I found some on their website here
    http://abctvstore.seenon.com/detail.php?p=95293&v=abctvstore_lost
You could always make your own though. :) Someone could be the smoke monster and another could dress up as a polar bear. I think it would be too funny! :)

  21. doverdi says:

Why not “Paper Craft Hero’s”…someone could be a pair of scissors, another a glue bottle, a pen, etc. It would definately be an interesting assortment.

  22. Alison Snow says:

Everybody has some wonderful ideas! I was inspired by my comment from my last post (about cardmaking bringing me back to childhood handmade cards with macaroni) – what about dressing up as little kids, like maybe from Lil Rascals (remember them?) or even as babies?? Instead of pacifiers and bottles, you could be carrying bottles of glue, or glitter and crayons :)

    Alison

  23. kelly marie says:

How about characters from Clue? Ms. Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, etc. Everyone can go as their favorite color/character! :)

  24. Susan C. says:

Well, Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs is definitely a good one for y’all number wise. How about nerds… like ‘Revenge of the Nerds” style? My dept did it last year and it was a big hit… of course we are accountants, so it kind of fits. HA. =)

  25. cards4ever says:

You could are dress up as the Peanut characters.

  26. Brenda says:

“and get the issue in your mailbox before it’s available on the newsstand.”

I thought this was a very interesting comment! I subscribed on 1 August and finally received the Sept/Oct issue on Sept 5th; the new issue has been out since 22 Sept and I’m still waiting for my copy two weeks later!
