Welcome to Freebie Friday! Did you know that October 30, the day before Halloween, is known as Mischief Night? According to tradition, preteens and teenagers are known to play pranks on their neighbors as a way to kick off the Halloween festivities. Common pranks include soaping car windows, egging houses, adorning trees with toilet paper and running away after ringing doorbells.
While it always stinks to be on the receiving end of a prank, it sure is fun to pull a harmless prank every now and then – especially around the spookiest time of the year. {Disclaimer: If you are a teenager reading this right now, please don’t tell your mother that I said it was okay to egg your next door neighbor’s house. If you choose to be mischievous, be prepared to accept the consequences for getting caught!}
In the mood for some mischievous cards? I recently came across these two Halloween cards from Paper Crafts Go-to Gal Maren Benedict. Featured in Card Creations, Volume 7, they both scream mischief and fun. Leave a comment telling me a mischievous prank you’ve pulled in your life. I’ll randomly select three winners to take home Cosmo Cricket’s Haunted collection – the same collection Maren used on these fun cards. All comments must be received by midnight (MDT) on Sunday, Nov. 1.

Speaking of mischief…our art director Matt has definitely been up to no good. Apparently all the long hours in his dark laboratory (office) have finally taken its toll. He now grunts when asked a question and lately there seems to be a lot of steam coming out of his head. To make matters even worse, he’s now taken up with seven crazy women! (well, nine if you count our impressionable interns!) Yes, Matt has become the misunderstood Frankenstein and we are his seven brides. How’s that for a team costume?!
Look for a special blog post tomorrow, where I’ll reveal pictures from our day at the office as Mrs. Matt Anderson. (Hopefully the real Mrs. Anderson is a good sport!) Congrats go out to Ellie Augustin (Sept. 22, 6:14 a.m.)! Even though we didn’t exactly go with her “Count Dracula/Vixen” idea (from Jennifer’s Merry Hallowistmas! post), she definitely inspired us to go down to the monster path. Ellie, I’ll be contacting you shortly to discuss your fun prize!
Here’s to having fun (and being safe!) on Mischief Night!

These are great. I had so much fun reading everyone’s pranks. Mine is not as hilarious as some but my little girl and I got a good laugh out of it. My husband is deadly afraid of snakes so one night we hid a plastic one under his pillow. You should have heard him scream. It was priceless. I don’t know what was funnier–my husband screaming or our daughter laughing hysterically. Great thing to teach your child when she is 6.
In high school, we may have toliet papered a couple of houses… maybe. And we used to take the white tennis shoe whitener stuff and write on each other’s car windows. Only nice messages. I promise. =)
I was too much of a goody goody, but I did some Ttoilet papering in my day.
Oh, I left a little plastic spider in a hidden space at work today. I hope to get someone good on Monday!

I wasn’t too mischievous as a teen… I was involved in a tp’ing incident at a friend’s house- I’m sure that counts! ;D
Oh my goodness… I would be too embarrassed to admit to it! If I win… I will send you a private email and tell you later! Ha! We did a lot of toilet papering in high school… that was always fun. Oh… and we stuck forks all in the ground of a girl that we didn’t like and tore off the handles. Man… I was mean! I need to quit admitting to stuff!!
A prank I’ve pulled???!!! Oh my goodness, I’m so boring! I cannot think of a single one right now. (At least I hope its “right now” and that I’m drawing a blank…or else I’m more than boring!!!) I do remember my brother T.P.’ing (until we got hit and Mom made him clean it all up himself), I remember Mom telling us there was a parade coming down our street complete with elephants one April Fools when we were young, and I remember (and have photos to boot) my grown brother drawing pictures on my sleeping Aunt’s face last Christmas…..but, no tales of my own to share. Oh how sad is that! I must come up with something pronto!! :>
I have been enjoying so many of the previous stories about the pranks they did in the past. I guess it is good, but I can honestly say that I have never played a prank on anyone.
not much of a prankster. did some tping when i was young–once i think. that’s it. boring. i love the cards though! thanks for sharing the pic.
Umm, something mischievous. I didn’t do much mischievous things. I remember one time I was sent to my bedroom with my dinner and then I came out saying I had eaten it but I really just went to the bathroom and flushed it down the toilet.
not a prankster. I an lol at you pranks.
the best prank we did was during my highschool years. We somehow managed to take a full case of tp from our highschool and plastered the very woodsy and tree-filled yard of a class mate that my friend had a huge crush on. It took us almost an hour to tp the yard at 2:00 in the morning. On a school night. We were practically caught by the police car that kept cruising back and forth but never caught us as we hid behind the trunk of one of the trees as the car slowly crept from left to right…we were scared because whenever we tried to run back to the car the cop would come back!!!! lol
When I was in high school, one of my teacher’s always told us to pick a penny up if it was on heads for good luck. So for his birthday, we made a huge cake out of heads-up pennies in the middle of his classroom floor.
My older sister took me out with her friends one time (way back in the 70′s) to soap the neighborhood cars. Sooo fun and we were supposedly being sneaky, but actually I imagine we were giggling and shushing each other way too loudly!
My favorite prank I ever did is when I was a computer maintenance person in the AF. I installed a program on everyone’s computer that would make all of this horrible noise and then blank the screen out with a warning that they had caused a fatal crash the first time they hit return. Computers were new to everyone back then and a lot of people were afraid of them. What was even funnier was when I made a pack with the people that were always rude, mean, or ugly to other people that I would fix it (their computer) and keep it a secret, but they had to start being nicer to everyone or I would tell. I clued the rest of the people in on it after letting them know about the program I had installed. That way they didn’t get mad about the joke I played on them. Would you believe that the unpleasant people started being nice, and I left that assignment without no one the wiser.
When I was younger I use to toilet paper with friends. One of the most memorable time was when we tpd our minister….I got more than I bargained for when I was on their back porch….embarrassed!
I honestly can’t think of a prank I’ve pulled!! I have 2 brothers, I know I should have pulled a prank at some time…. I’m claiming candy-induced amnesia!
wow what a time to fess up. When I was young my friends and I got slime and put it in front of our neighbours doorway. When they walked out their front door SQUISH! They didn’t think it was as funny as we did…
Oh to be a kid..
I really can’t think of a prank I have played on anyone. I have put on my clown costume for a Halloween party and then left after agitating every one without letting anyone know who I was.
ahhh I had to “think” to remember ever doing a prank, and I think the only thing we ever did was making phone calls like: “Is your refrigerator running? well you better go catch it! ” lol Not full prankster material, but we thought we were hysterical~!
I’m boring too… I cannot think of a single prank!!! I love them but I’m not the prankster type…
I guess I was a goody 2 shoes because I never did any pranking. Honest!
I sneak up on my cat and scare him all the time! I’m usually the one getting pranked by other people!
My BFF & I did the old hide the head on a platter trick. I hid on a rolling cart-type thing with a hole in it for my head. Lift the lid and I scream…at least first!!! TOO MUCH FUN!!! Ah..for youth!
