Welcome to Freebie Friday! As you probably already know, we take holidays very seriously around here. Maybe it’s because we put so much thought into covering them in our regular and special issues (usually six months ahead of time!), that when the real holiday comes around, we feel like we have to acknowledge it a big way - just so the circle is complete.
Here at the office we’re finalizing the details for our team Halloween costume. And while I can’t reveal what the actual theme is (there’s a lot of Creating Keepsakes spies around here!), I can tell you it’s absolutely perfect for our team of eight women and one man. (I know some of you think you know, but it’s not what you think!) Let’s just say when next Friday rolls around, we’re going to give the CK team a run for their money in our company’s annual Halloween costume contest. We’ll show you pictures the following Monday!
For all of you moms and grandmas out there who plan on making your child/grandchild’s costume, I tip my hat to you. My own grandma is an amazing seamstress and made so many of my costumes growing up. Sadly that sewing gene was not passed down to me – even despite her best attempts to teach me. I wonder what happened to that little sewing machine she bought me?
Back to the kiddie costumes… I was leafing through our September/October issue and came across Davinie Fiero’s Boo Crew Halloween Decor on p. 32. Is that not the cutest picture/project you’ve ever seen? And it’s 5 steps or less! Make sure you click on Davinie’s blog to read the cute story behind the photo and to see the layout she created using a similar image.

Davinie Fiero's Boo Crew Halloween Decor from our Sept/Oct issue.
Recently I came across this team picture from last year’s Halloween festivities. I’m thinking about recreating Davinie’s fun project and instead of the cute kiddos, it will be the groovy PC chicks! What do you think?

Beware...dangerous hippies up ahead!
So while I won’t be sewing my costume this year (or any year to come!), I can definitely have fun paper crafting my priceless memories. For today’s giveaway, I have three sets of the Craft Fair collection from American Crafts. For all you crafty sewers out there, this collection is right up your alley! And even if you don’t sew, it’s still some cool product to play with! To be entered to win, leave a comment telling me a talent you possess. Whether you’re a butcher, baker or candlestick maker, I want to hear all about it! All comments must be received by midnight (MDT) on Sunday, Oct. 25.
Happy Friday!
Kelly
P.S. If you plan on making some fun Halloween projects this weekend, why not enter them in our October Gallery Challenge? We have almost 400 entries so far! The deadline is midnight (MDT) on Monday, Oct. 26, so don’t delay!
P.P.S. It’s time to announce the winner of Kim Kesti’s The Christmas Rush post!
1. Heidi Stock (Oct. 21, 2:48 p.m.)
Congrats, Heidi! You’ve won all of Kim’s cards featured in this post! I’ll be contacting you shortly to get your mailing address. Thanks to all who left comments!

I think my greatest talent is making cakes! It’s a really great one! (and my family agrees)
I use to be a beader, and loved to make woven pictures with beads. I say woven because I used a double warp loom and the beads floated in between the woven threads. I need to get my loom out and do some beading again. I haven’t made anything since I moved here.
I think I’m pretty good at scrappin’ and I’m really concentrating on learning how to make a good card. I am good at hand lettering . . . my friends ask my to write stuff for them all the time!! I love that Boo Crew project, too!!
I am good at rallying the troops! I can motivate a team and keep them organized– that’s my skill.
I’m a great cheerleader-not as in doing cheers but supporting and encouraging others in their endeavors. Halloween is my favorite time of the year and my favorite costume ever was an outhouse!
Well of course I’m a paper crafter. But I’m pretty good at organizing projects and keeping all the kiddos happy at preschool.
Besides my paper-crafting, I think I’m pretty good at making people smile
Hmm a talent… erhm, don’t really think I have one. People usually tell me is that I have really good handwriting though. =)
my talent is in the musical field – singing, but I do dabble with scrapbooking!
I’d count playing the piano and making tasty cocktails as my talents!
well goodness, let’s see……. I do sing and have ever since I was in elementary school. have done so at church, coffee shops, local t.v., musicals, and so on.
I can also take really random food items and come up with something to eat for dinner!
grins!
but my fave thing right now is PAPERCRAFTING!!!!! woooo hoooooooo!!!!
I had to ask my boyfriend what I’m good at because sometimes I just wonder about myself! He said I’m pretty good at cooking. I love to scrap and stamp of course and feel like I’m getting better at it sloooowly, but I think my 1st love is cooking! I would love to try out these cute papers from American Crafts, I love their designs!
i would like to think i am a good crafter – paper, clothes. now if only i had more time.
I am a major crafter: sewing, paper crafts, cross stitch, cooking, painting, anything to show my creative side!!
um, i dabble in several crafts… can’t really say i’ve mastered any, haha, but i can cook, bake, play the piano, make some candles, cross-stitch, blah blah blah
thanks for the chance!
Awesome photo – it will look great on a card. I have a talent for baking – especially cookies and puddings – lots of fun but not so good for the waistline!
Oh my goodness, the Groovy Crew would be fabulous! You should do it! I have an extra piece of barnwood in that shape if you want it!
i am a good cook! (if that can be considered a talent)
I don’t know if any of my hobbies can be classified as ‘talents’ per se, but I can knot cherry stems with my tongue – does that count? LOL, thanks for the chance to win! Hope you had a good weekend.
Gee, I don’t know if it is a “talent” that would earn me money, but I love to stamp and create cards. I just make them to give away to family and friends, but it is my therapy and I miss it when I get too busy to do it. Thanks for a chance to win an awesome prize.
I fell in love with sewing when I was in the seventh grade and took Home Economics, I made quite a few items back then. As I grew up I wanted more instant gratifications and sewing was just too time consuming. I did have to burn quite a bit of midnight oil sewing my kids costumes in the past and hopefully no more. : ) This is why I love making cards, instant gratification in less than 30 minutes! : )
I am an organizing freak….I love all things organizing including the containers, labels and the actual activity of organizing….bring on those cluttered spots, piles of paper and junk drawers any day!
I can finish off an entire container of ice cream, its a great talent
Well beside paper crafting I DANCE. I’ve been a dancer since the age of 7. I have experience in theatre, hip hop, praise dance and jazz. I took dance classes for years. In high school danced in a bunch of musicals. I love to Dance while in college I was on the dance team and became Pres. my senior year. I recently started to dance again in my spare time.
Is sleeping a talent… That’s what I am good at, especially after a long scrapbooking weekend with my sister. I would have to say card and scrapbooking.
I love to cook! My sister would tell you my talent is making a roux….she still can’t make one.
