Let’s Hug!

 Let’s Hug!

Brandy Jesperson

I was never one of those girls in high school who hugged all her friends hello. I just wasn’t a very touchy-feely person. As I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to appreciate a good hug and have even been known to give a squeeze hello every now and then.

Why bring all this up, you ask? Today is National Hugging Day

National Hugging Day was created in 1986 by Rev. Kevin Zaborney from Caro, Michigan. Celebrating this day is pretty simple. Hug your family members, hug your friends, heck…hug your co-workers!

Another benefit of hugging? You stay warm!

Hugging is a great way to show someone you care. A good hug releases endorphins in your blood that make you feel good. It can lower your heart rate and blood pressure, reduce the production of cortisol (hormones that are secreted during stressful periods) and even improve your immunity against disease! In short, hugging is good for your health.

So happy Hugging Day! Since I can’t hug you all I’m sending a cyber-hug in the form of this card. This beauty was designed by Ms. Teri Anderson for our upcoming Creating Keepsakes Convention classes. If you want to make this card and many others, make sure you check out our Events web site for class locations and times.

P.S. One month from today marks my due date! I can’t wait to give lots of hugs to my new baby boy. Here’s hoping the next 30 days go by in a flash!

  7. Jody M says:

I love hugs. It is hard because my DH is not a touchy feely person, so hugs aren’t easy for him to give. Because of that I sure made sure my son (who is now 19) received lots of hugs over the years and knows how important they are to a relationship.

Only a month to go, WOW, the time has flown by.

  8. Laura says:

Hugging is an everyday occasion in my household, but I LOVE that there is a day to celebrate it! Thanks for the hug – love the card.

Good luck with the last month and be sure to enjoy it as it does go by quickly and before you know it, that lovely baby boy will be finishing high school! Congratulations and best of luck to you and your family.

  9. I learned to hug while living in the US. I like it. Over here people don’t hug.

Hug your baby belly…Why wait??? I am a hugger, squeezer, kisser, very touchy person. And I like it!!!

  15. You (and your tummy) should have been front and center in the photo! Cute photo, anyway.
Hug your kiddo as long as you can. At a certain age they don’t relish it as much, although YOU still will. This is experience talking, on both ends (as a daughter and as a mom).
I’ll pray for your boy to be a good sleeper, and even tempered.

  16. Toni Storie says:
