Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! Although my heritage does consist of an Irish past, I’d like to talk about the color green today.
Wow, what a powerful color! You can ask just about any guy what their favorite color is and I’d bet they say “green”. Why is that? It’s calming, it takes us back to nature and just gives us a refreshed feeling. Could those be the reasons why? And it’s amazing that green compliments each and every color out there…it does ya know.
So at the moment, many of you aren’t looking at the most perfect green grass, but we all know it’s coming since spring is just around the corner. What a wonderful color to see after those long, cold winters, right?
It’s the most recognized color to our eye, so that’s why it was chosen as our “GO” color! It’s the go-to color for me when I create anything masculine, and it’s the one color that you will see in each season. Spring (mint), summer (grass), autumn (olive) and winter (holly). Notice how the color green gets darker as the seasons move through the year.
I chose to put this delightful color into three categories: Lime, Olive and Grass
Lime Green: Holy guacamole, I love sour apple and the tartest key lime pie! The brightest collections of green just makes me feel so happy!
Olive Green...olive you! Consisting of sage, pears and the color of money of course! This is the most calming hue of the group.
Grass Green: I see a bowl of fresh veggies and smell fresh-cut lawns. Oh, we'll be seeing A LOT of this color today...yay!

- 34 million Americans have Irish ancestry, according to the 2003 U.S. Census. That’s almost nine times the population of Ireland, which has 4.1 million people.
- Some American towns have “Irish” names. You could visit: Mount Gay-Shamrock, West Virginia; Shamrock Lakes, Indiana; Shamrock, Oklahoma; Shamrock, Texas; Dublin, California and Dublin, Ohio.
- The harp is the symbol of Ireland. The color green is also commonly associated with Ireland, also known as “The Emerald Isle”.
- The Irish flag is green, white and orange. The green symbolizes the people of the south; orange, the people of the north. White represents the peace that brings them together as a nation.
- The name “leprechaun” has several origins. It could be from the Irish Gaelic word “leipreachan”, which means “a kind of aqueous sprite”. Or it could be from “leath bhrogan”, which means “shoemaker”.
- One estimate suggests that there are about 10,000 regular three-leaf clovers for every lucky four-leaf clover.
- Legend says that each leaf of the clover means something: the first is for hope, the second for faith, the third for love and the fourth for luck.
Green Thumb, Green with Envy, Going Green, that is one powerful color!

I learned so much from your post today. Thank you for the lesson. Now I have something new to pass on to the kids.:)
The one thing that surprised me was that most men like green. It shouldn’t have surprised me but it did. I had never really thought of it. It is my husband’s favorite color and the color of his eyes- which was the first thing about him I noticed.
