If you’re lucky enough to already own a copy of the new Paper Crafts Go-to Sketches, then you know exactly what I’m talking about when I say “over the top inspiration”. I was totally “wowed” just by looking at the gorgeous cover!
Well, that’s nothing compared to my delight in every single page of this very special issue. Gasp, grin and giggle pretty much describe my reaction. Then, it was off to my scrap room to act on all that inspiration.
Not only are sketches fun and easy to use, they are also super versatile. Let me show you. First, I picked out this simple sketch (I love the scallops).

I have a sister-in-law who recently had a baby, so I wanted to make a small gift bag. I thought this sketch would be perfect for a baby theme. Since I had a specific size to work with, I chose to paint a scalloped square directly on my patterned paper. Then, I simply added a cardstock strip, flower and stickers. I love how it turned out.

Of course, sketches are perfect for cards, too. I’m feeling the love for the baby stuff now, so I continue on and made a baby card. This time I turned the sketch upside down for a little different look.

I freehand cut my scallops and added a little paint swoosh here and there. A ribbon tie and a few small accents are all I needed to finish this little cutie.
Why not round it out by making a little tag, too? I love having a few tags in my stash to tuck into small gifts.

I kept pretty true to the sketch by making my tag a square; then, I used a scalloped square punch, two little pieces of ribbon and an epoxy for my sentiment. This was super fast and easy to create!
Now, I know you really want a chance to win a copy of this new special issue – am I right? All you have to do is leave me a comment and tell me about the last time you paper crafted a NON-card project. What did you create? Scrapbook pages, home décor, a gift bag? You have until midnight (MDT) on Thursday, April 8 to leave a comment and be entered to win one of three copies!
Happy Sketch Days!
Kim Kesti,
Paper Crafts Go-to Gal

I made a cupcake wrapper!
I made a “springy” 4×4 inch canvas to freshen things up around here, with paint, paper, stams, buttons, and ribbon.
I completed my first digi-scrap page. I am taking an online class to learn how to digitally scrap and I finished my page on Monday.
I’ve been working on scrapbooking projects lately — a return to my “roots” so to speak…
Thanks!
I’m having a hard time remembering the last time I made something that wasn’t a card. I think it might have been the advent calendar I made for Christmas.
I do normally focus on making cards, but the last non-card project I made was a photo calendar for my mother-in-law featuring the cute little chihuahua that she gave us. She LOVED it! Love the card and gift bag set you made, too cute! Thanks for the chance to win this awesome mag!

I guess the last thing I made that wasn’t a card was little boxes for treats for Christmas. My son hates when I give things to his teachers, so I had to stop after last year. Jeesh
The last thing I made was a French dress paper garland.
Last non-card project was a set of Journals in a Jar. It was slips of colored paper with questions ranging from whimsical to serious. (Ex. “Have you ever seen a dbl rainbow? Describe your proudest moment. What’s your favorite dessert?) The jar was topped with a square of cloth and a ribbon and a blank notebook accompanied the gift. The idea is to pull a question, tape it to the top of a page and then answer! Fun!
Gift tags and bags are always a must have around here, so I love making them! Sure would love a copy of this magazine!
Love these projects! The last non-card thing I made was a little birthday gift for a friend. I took a plastic box (a stampin’ up container) and covered it with paper and embellishments, then filled it with some yummy bars.

I think the last non-card paper craft I made was gift wrap. We ran out of Christmas paper, so my daughter and I went back to the basics. We used brown grocery bags, cut a potato into a tree shape, and stamped using paint (red or green). The packages were tied with a complementary colored ribbon and resulted in a charming presentation.
Whenever I hit the “brick wall” when it comes to making cards, I turn my paper crafting passion to altered art items. Paint cans for new moms, post it note holders for office gals, calendars for the planners in my life and mini albums for the mothers in my life.
Non-card or me is usually a scrapbook page for my son…I need to stop making cards and make pages or else he’ll be 18 before I know it and I’ll still be making his scrapbook from when he was 2!
my last non-card project was a sort of plaque, 2 sided hinged in the middle with bia coil. and i used Route 66(i think) paper with 2 cars from the 1940′s. and then added some tim holtz sprockets. it was so masculine looking. i made one for my dad, and my husband liked it so much, he wanted one made for his dad. SO i made 2, and forgot to take pics of either. don’t know what i was thinking that day.
Most recently I did a gift tag for a kid’s birthday present and used paper/embellishments to decorate a paper mache birdhouse.
I am planning to make book marks for my book club members. As for completed projects, I made an embellished journal for a friend who was moving. Thanks for sharing!
This is tough–I make tons of cards but also made a crafty journal, to keep track of the projects I make each month, I also did a minialbum with acrylic covers for a friend. I also did a scrap calendar, using photos from the previous year, I do this every year, I list family/friend BD’s and anniversaries as well as holidays. It’s always a huge hit!
The last non-card project I did was a banner for my daughter’s birthday. Banners are so cute and fun, and the thing I love is that you can hold on to them for reuse instead of giving them away (although I do love to give cards away).
Hey Kim- love your takes on the sketch- you are Rock’n the baby goodies!!! The last non-card thing I made, is a large picture frame to display my cards. My mother is my biggest supporter of my “card making hobby” (& my bestest friend) & I make lots of cards for her & she wanted a way to display them. I took a (16×20-I think) frame & then took 6 happy, fun pieces of patterned paper & made it into a grid of/6 rectangles, I then used 6 more pieces of patterned paper to mat over that- finally I added bright colored metal clips. Now my mom can display 6 at a time & change them up as she likes. This was so fun to make, especially because it was for my mom!!!
I am currently making gift card holders for the librarians at my son’s school for librarians week next week. Each one will hold a gift card for a free drink at the local espresso bar.
I have been trying to catch up on my scrapbook album and making progress.
Also have made gift tags. Love that little dragonfly!
My son just celebrated his third birthday, so I made gift bags with personalized tags, cupcake toppers, and a door sign.
The last non-card project I made was a scrapbook page featuring a beautiful shot of a tree branch that I happened to get with my little ol’ point and shoot camera!
I am doing a Scripture Challenge and am making 4 x 6 pages of Bible verses which I will put into a small photo album.
The last non-card thing I made was a scrapbook page. I’m doing a challenge at Scrap Gal of a top 10 each month. My next non-card project is some personalized stationery.
so so cute, I’m currently working on some favors for my dd 12th bday
My last non-card project was an altered match box, saying “light my fire”
Love your cards, they are so clean and fresh and CUTE!
I have a little sister with down syndrome. She is a true party girl. We just recently had a “Spring party”. We made a decorative banner and we made stamped and embellished place cards and we made little party favor bags. Not only does she love to party but she also really loves it when we make all the neat things we need for a party. We both just love papercrafting! Thanks for the chance to win “Go To Sketches”. I would love to win this great give away!
ohh it’s so cute !
I made fun “LUCKY” signs for St Patty’s day for me and my sister. It was really neat.
I cannot believe you free-handed your scallops!
The last non-card I paper crafted was just yesterday. I made a bracelet for my sister. It’s a charm bracelet, and I filed the glass charms with pretty papers.
I’m in the middle of a non-card project – a big altered canvas. It’s going to have fabric, paint & photos when I’m done.
I made a birthday banner for my grandson who was turning two. I made it of different trucks and put local companies’ names on them. He and his older brother just loved it and Mom left it up for days after the party.
I made a postage stamp holder envelope and I have made a few scrapbook pages in the last few weeks. Thans for a chance to win.
most recent thing I paper crafted was home decor related, a mirror frame with fun cear acrylic accents on a pretty scrap paer. also used the tim holtz grunge board, love it!
great bag/card/tag set, cant wait to see what the other gals did too!
Jenn Post
love your card and the gift bag. I made a gift bag for Valentine’s Day for my hubby. Getting ready to make little gift bags with my after – school community service club for the staff for Staff Appreciation week with paper and tags.
love all the inspiration i always see here.
the last thing I did was scrapbook pages a couple of weeks ago.
Gorgeous projects and I love how neat your freehand scallops are (mine would be all over the place) I hardly ever make non-card projects, think the last one I did was about a year ago when I tarted up my button box!
It was about two weeks ago the last time I created a non-card paper crafted item. I was two scrapbook pages of my dog in his Halloween costumes.
in march i did an acryilc box for a set of cards for my SIL.
I am in the process of making a Graduation banner for my son’s graduation party.
I did scrapbook pages about a trip to Oklahoma following their ice storm. Lots of pages with tree damage and downed power lines . . . fun pages, not a fun time for the people of Oklahoma. Love the sketch and samples.
The last thing I created was a scrapbook page. I love looking at magazines and books for inspiration. Would love to get my hands on this latest sketch book.
I’m currently working on a bunch of fabric flowers for girls’ headbands and barrettes. We have a load of little girls’ bday parties to attend this summer so I’m going to try to save some money by making the gifts. btw- LOVE your butterfly tag-cute!
The last non-card project I made were mini easter baskets using my Big Shot, and tea bag holders, which were both a couple of weeks ago.
The last noncard project I did was making an altered journal for gifts at Christmas!
I’d LOVE to win this sketches book. What fabulous ideas you’ve shown.
I made candy containers from paper with lots of paper embellies! And thanks for the sketch inspirations!
I papercrafted an Easter bulletin board at church. I do this on a bimonthly basis. It’s like a big scrapbook page!
