It’s been a summer of travel for me (and I’m currently in Chicago for the CHA Trade Show). What better way to while away the hours on the plane than reading Paper Crafts magazine? I love sharing my job and my crafty passion all over the USA!
I recently returned from a trip to Michigan & Indiana armed with two current issues. I documented some of my favorite stops with photos of me and my mags. They’re photogenic little publications, aren’t they?
Come along with me on a tour of some of my favorite hometown spots!

Motown Museum – Detroit, MI
Our first stop was Hitsville, USA on a rainy and muggy July afternoon. This place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I stood in the same studio where Michael Jackson, The Supremes, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye recorded their smash hits. You NEED to stop here. It is so worth the trip!

Shopping at my favorite grocery store – Meijer!
If you live in Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois or Kentucky, you might be familiar with my favorite grocery store – Meijer. Love it and MISS it so much!

The corn is more than knee high behind my parents’ house in Bay City, MI!
I’m a country girl at heart, so I couldn’t help sharing the spotlight with Card Style in the cornfield behind my parents’ house!

Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland in Frankenmuth, MI
One of Mid-Michigan’s finest destinations is Bronner’s! And my July/August issue and I had yummy German fare at the Bavarian Inn, too. Be JEALOUS!

Ludington State Park – Ludington, MI
It almost looks like I would enjoy camping – but don’t be fooled! I was visiting with friends at their campsite for the day at Ludington State Park. Say “hi” to my friend Chris and my 5th & 6th grade teacher Mr. Scheiwe (and his wife) behind me!

Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Girod at their wedding reception in Antwerp, OH
Last but not least, I sang in the wedding of my adorable former student Stacy in Woodburn, IN, and I couldn’t resist getting a shot of them with a magazine at their reception. Are they good sports or what? She is SUCH a ham!
So where have you taken your Paper Crafts magazine this summer? We’re having a fun contest on Facebook for the Paper Crafts Mega Fan of the Week. So far we’ve highlighted pictures of five ladies from all over the world with their Paper Crafts magazines. Here’s what you can do to join the fun:
Take a picture of yourself with your Paper Crafts magazine at the beach, at the cabin, in the big city, on the farm, at a national monument or park, abroad or wherever you go! Send the image to sopel@papercraftsmag.com, and we’ll post photos of YOU reading your favorite magazine every Wednesday. If your photo is chosen, your picture will appear on the Facebook fan page, and we’ll send you a prize. Only photos posted by Paper Crafts Magazine will be eligible to win!
This will be an ongoing thing at least throughout the summer or longer if we’re still having fun!
Now get out there and enjoy your Paper Crafts!
Susan

I hope my next issue arrives before I go on vacation which will be on August 16th. I won’t start reading until I arrive at our destination in Brittany France.
The pictures you show here are great.
Eveline.
Such fun photos, Susan! I brought my PC Magazine to Richmond VA last week (it’s a great way to pass the time on the plane), thought several times to take a photo, but FORGOT!
Note to Hubby: We need to go away again next week
I moved from Michigan to Texas and can’t lie… I too LOVE and MISS Meijer. I am SO sick of Walmart!! UGH!! I miss Bronners too. Christmas wonderland 24/7!! What’s not to love!!
I live in Midland, MI so when I saw a lot of your photos, I was like hey, I’ve been there! I love Meijer too!
Glad you had a wonderful trip.
Fun to see so many familiar places on the post!
Super cute Susan!
So jealous! Would love to see Hitsville…but I’m with you on the camping. Hi to your buds and love this post!
really cute pictures!
Love the photos Susan!! Bronner’s Christmas in Wonderland looks SUPER fun!! I would have been in heaven there. I love vintage Christmas decor!
I am also a Michigan gal. I love Bronners. I have not been there for years. Doesn’t the Bavarian Inn have the best breakfasts.? YUM.
For some reason I couldn’t see the photos except for the one with the cowboy hat. Thought you’d want to know in case something went wrong….

I too was born in MI and lived here all my life! Funny to see your pictures of places I have been to and are very familiar with! I learned to walk at Ludington State Park!
what fun photos those are!
My juices are flowing…what a fun mini book that would make!
Susan,
What fun – thanks for stopping by Bronner’s!

Bronner’s CHRISTmas Wonderland
You took me on a quick trip home. I’m a transplanted Michigander living in hostile Buckeye country!!
I miss Meijer, too. It’s 40 miles to the nearest one – and in the opposite direction of where our local travels usually take us. And Ludington is just 30 minutes away from where my parents now live. I think I get most homesick during the summer when I miss Lake Michigan a LOT! Thanks for the sentimental journey . . .
I am SO mad! I just got back from Jamaica and EVEN had my Papercrafts Mag with me, but didn’t take a picture!!! Darn! Well, next week I am off to visit my Grandma in WI so I will have to bring the camera AND my Papercrafts mag. LOL
Oh I forgot to mention above that I live in Northville, MI. We have been here almost 4 years and YES people are still moving TO Michigan and not away from. LOL I have several Meijers close to me so shop there a lot. And I am embarrassed to say that I have never been to Hitsville. Gotta do that now.
Yes, the corn is doing very well in MI this year. I also love to go to Frankenmuth!
Susan, you are so adorable! I love this post and seeing you and the mag on vacay!
I live in Saginaw!!!!
It was a fun week. Thanks for taking me along.
Loved your photos! I want to say thanks for sending the Card Style issue so quickly after I was chosen as a mega fan! It was a pleasant surprise to find it in my mailbox after a week long vacation to Berlin and Krakow! I have read it from front to back and LOOOOOOVE it so much.
