P. Kelly Smith

Welcome to Freebie Friday! I’ve been a busy little editor this week. Since our September/October issue goes on sale next week, I’m getting all the online content ready to post on our web site. While I always look forward to our annual Halloween/Fall issue, I’m a little sad to say goodbye to summer…especially since it’s not officially over yet. Yes, I’m an eternal optimist when it comes to summertime.

So I thought before we get all excited about falling leaves, caramel apples and trick or treating, I would spotlight one of my favorite cards from our departing July/August issue. It’s Lisa Dorsey’s Hello Sunshine Card. As one of our 22 online bonus projects, you can find supplies and instructions to recreate this project on our web site HERE.

Ready for today’s giveaway? Since I know you’re dying to recreate Lisa’s card, you’re going to need the right tools, right? Leave a comment telling me your favorite thing about summertime. I’ll pick two winners to receive some Fiskars tools, including their Circle Border Punch (Sun) and Classic 8-inch scissors. All comments must be received by midnight (MDT) on Sunday, August 15.

My favorite thing about summer is that there is no morning rush to get all 4 kids to school. That will be all over with starting on this Tues., their first day back to school.EEK!

  2. Pamk says:

all the fresh produce especially tomatoes and watermelons but this darn heat needs to go away. Seems its been around 100 for almost a month.

  3. Kristen says:

My favorite thing about summer is that I have it off to play with my kids. Love the relaxed feeling of summer, although it starts to feel a little rushed now as we all get ready to go back!

  4. For me summer means a relaxed time. So when I create my colors may overrun and my lines may be curvy instead of straight. I have many summer birthdays and anniversaries to remember. This year I choose subdued colors and used glazes and diamond shine to highlight my creations. Fun in the sunshine!

  5. Pat K says:

Love the warm summer nights and going to the town farm market for fresh produce, veggies, fruits and home style baked goods. Summer is fun!

  6. F. Gee says:

I love spending time with my girls – doing things we don’t have time to do during the school year – like making crafts! Lazy days with no timed scheduled events – we’ll miss summer.

My favorite thing about summer is just being able to enjoy the outdoors and soak up the sun! I live in Canada where we have very cold winters and spend so much time indoors.
PS: I enjoy your blog letters very much.

I like the slower pace. Since it’s so hot in FL there is lots of time inside reading and card making and that’s a good thing!

  9. Nat says:

On the weekends, I like going to the camping along the lake…it’s peaceful:-)

What I love here in Hawaii during the summer is morning traffic, the lack of it. Can get to work in a jiffy. Days are longer, but with it comes hotter and more humid days and night.

  15. Debi says:

Warm summer nights on the front porch (or backyard screen room) with nothing but the glow of a citronella candle and my honey to keep me company!

I love all the tasty fruits that summer brings because you can endless nimber of things with them.

I work in a school so the best thing about summer is that i dont have to go to work!! i get to sit on my front deck in the morning with a cup of coffee.

  18. My favorite thing about summer time is hanging out with our families more. :)
