Today I have the pleasure of chatting about the Paper Crafts’ Card Style. This magazine is one of my favorites for the year. If you asked me a year ago what my style was, I would have said, “I have no idea.” While I still scratch my head at that question, I have a much better idea of what category I fall into.
Now I consider myself a fun & cute designer first. There are times when I feel like creating a funky, clean and graphic project, and other times I like to pour on the bling and dabble in lace and frillies. I just adore each and every style.
For today’s inspiration, I flipped through Card Style and found this fun & cute project from Wendy Sue Anderson:

Wendy Sue Anderson's An Apple a Day Card is on p. 35.
I think her design is simply sweet, and, of course, this card can be found in the Fun & Cute section. I didn’t exactly follow in her fun and cute footsteps, but my new holiday card dabbles in a few styles:
- Fun & Cute – bracket frame, scalloped edge, sentiment
- Clean & Graphic – grid brad
- Classy & Elegant – music paper
- Shabby & Vintage – baker’s twine, pretty green patterned paper

If I chose a specific style and used the same sketch, these are the guidelines that I would follow:
Fun & Cute – I would have changed the music paper to a polka dot paper, probably pink and red. I might add a cardinal as an embellishment and my sentiment would be playful and flirty.
Clean & Graphic – I would remove the music paper and add another solid color in its place. The journal square would be white with bold black letters. The holly leaves would not be bent in the center and the berries would be three simple red brads instead.
Classy & Elegant- same papers except I would have chosen a classier journal spot with some curls possibly. The holly leaves would have bling berries and the sentiment would have been a curly font. The baker’s twine would be changed to a thin silk cream ribbon.
Shabby & Vintage – I would have distressed my paper edges and chose softer green tones. I would then add some white paint to the edges of my papers. Lace trim would be added along the right side, along with the baker’s twine. My holly leaves would be distressed and crinkled maybe. The berries would be pearls. My sentiment would be printed on the computer in an elegant font and cut down to a pretty edged journal spot.

I’m a shabby vintage-y girl. I love the look of kraft paper and use it as often as I can. Thanks for the opportunity to win!
I struggle with shabby/vintage but adore to see it on other creations! I’m a graphic kinda gal myself – I’m comfortable with simple!

I like shabby/vintage and would love to give it a go but it’s so not me!
I find clean and graphic the most challenging of them all because I always want to add more.
I have a tough time making things shabby & vintage. It’s a work in progress.
I know it’s crazy, but I probably struggle more with Fun/Cute than anything?! I think it’s because I don’t tend to buy embellishments/papers for that style, maybe???!!!
I’m totally a fun & cute girl. The one I struggle with the most is shabby and vintage. I just can’t bring myself to put that many things on one card!
I’m really drawn to the shabby & vintage, but I only dabble in it!
I guess I consider myself pretty multi-scraptual… I dabble in each of the styles. But the one I find most challenging is the classy/elegant style.
Oh I have such a tough time with vintage and shabby! I create in a lot of different ways, but when it comes to vintage/shabby I run into problems. I love the look, but trying to “mess” it up is a real tough one for me, I tend to want to make things nice and neat and clean.
The most challenging for me is “Clean & Simple” I love to add embellishments and layers, so CAS are not easy for me
Thanks for the chance to win.
The most challenging style for me would be “Fun and Cute” as I am more a “Clean & Simple” papercrafter. I am getting a little better with adding more embellishments, so maybe I can break out of the mold someday!
I have recently been trying for more “clean and simple” as that is what is hardest for me. I like to add “too much” sometimes!
Shabby chic is the most challenging style for me. I get overwhelmed when trying to combine various elements and knowing how to layer things. But I like the look of it and admire those that create cards in this style.
I soooo love the Fun and Cute style, but couldn’t make one if my life depended on it. Well maybe if my life depended on it….hee hee! I am completely intrigued with the Clean and Graphic style. I can do CAS but Clean and Graphic is a bit different; more edgy. Thanks for the chance Kim!
I would say that Shabby & Vintage is the hardest style for me. I try sooooo hard to make a card look vintage and in the end it just looks a bit distressed. Don’t get me wrong I love distress but it’s just not the same feel as Shabby & Vintage.
Great card!! Thanks for the opportunity to win!
i’d love to master the clean & graphic style…i tend to cram a lot of stuff on my cards & can’t seem to edit very well!
Shabby and Vintage is the hardest for me. I tend toward classy & elegant, but love to see all the styles everyone else does!
I would love to master the clean and graphic, it is a bit difficult for me as I always feel I am missing something. So, I will say I love the fun and cute, I can master it and the receivers of my cards seems to be happy with the result.
My card style is for sure, Classy & Elegant, but I want my card style to be vintage & shabby. For whatever reason, I just cant get it done. Thanks for the chance to win something fun!!
I tend toward Fun and Cute, or Classy and Elegant. Shabby/Vintage is tough for me. I am not fond of all the roughed up edges!
I love the shabby and vintage style but just find it soo difficult to master
