Teri Anderson

Stop the presses: Christmas is on Saturday.

How did it get here so fast?

It seems like just yesterday I was making grand plans for all the Christmas projects I was going to create by hand this year. There were going to be beautiful garlands, scrapbooks and a basket or two of handmade birthday cards.

A pesky thing called life got in the way, and I didn’t quite get all those projects completed.

Even so, I still want to make sure the special people in my life get a small handmade gift to know I am thinking of them.

So I’ve whipped up three simple, last-minute gifts that are quick on the making end and will give you big reviews on the receiving end.

If you are anything like me, these will help you make it to Saturday stress-free.

  • Snowman Popcorn Wrap

This is such an easy project. Start with a package of microwave popcorn. Wrap a piece of white cardstock around it. Draw a face with a pen. Add a carrot nose, scarf and hat. Finish it off with a sentiment in the corner. I used a sticker from SRM Press.

  • Lollipop Pocket

This is one that will put a smile on any youngster’s face. Create a pocket from cardstock. Cover it patterned paper. Tie ribbon around it. Add a tag. Finish it off by sticking a lollipop in the pocket.

  • Tea Bag Gift Sleeve

Start with a 3” x 9” rectangle of heavy patterned paper. Score it on the 1″, 2″ 5″ and 6″ marks. Fold and glue together so you haveone big sleeve. Bundle five to six tea bags together with a band of cardstock or twine and slide them into the sleeve. Finish the sleeve off with twine or ribbon and a tag.

Speaking of presents, my good friends at SRM Press have put together a present for you. They’ve provided three fabulous packs of their stickers to give away today (including the set I used in my projects above!). Tell me what you’d like to receive for Christmas this year. I’ll pick three of you at random to win one of the packs of SRM goodness! All comments must be received by midnight (MST) on Thursday, Dec. 23.

I am hoping for a Tim Holtz die cut. I love them all.

  4. Beverly Jordan says:

I have everything because I shop for myself for my husband. I end up with exactly what I want and at bargin prices. He can give me the diamonds on the BIG anniversaries, and I will take care of all the rest. So…I have everything, like I said. Don’t need a thing, but maybe more effort to craft. Just rather read blogs….

  5. Can you wrap up extra time? Between work and family I don’t always have enough time to sit and create. If not, I guess I would like a new work table. Probably won’t get it for Christmas, but it is in the works for next year.

  6. Greta H says:

You are so clever!! Just hoping for a quiet weekend to watch some movies, see the lights and enjoy not going to work for a long weekend! I’ll be doing some stamping, too!

I have searched hi and low in this small town for a pair of Tim Holz scissors. That is my only “gotta have” and can’t find them at any of our local arts and crafts stores. I’m actually spending time with our granddaughter at her house, 13 hours away from our home, which makes this the best Christmas ever!!!!
