Hi. Have we met?
My name is Jessica.
And my middle name is Lazy.
I’m not like…intentionally lazy.
I mean…I have 3 kids.
Trust me. That doesn’t leave a whole lot of time for…lazy-ing.
But when it comes to card making, I have this inability to do lots of things that lots of other card makers seem to love.
Things like layering.
And embellishing.
And layering the embellishments.
{Did I mention the layering?}
It’s not that I don’t like those things.
Noooooo.
I love looking at layers on top of embellishments on top of layers.
Like this card…

I mean, Anabelle O’Malley can do layers and embellishments, my friends.
But I can’t.
I didn’t get that gene.
But that’s okay.
I love my little clean and simple DNA.
It serves me well.
It makes me happy.
So, what does a lazy clean and simple girl love?
Something that makes clean and simple even MORE simple.
{Remember the three kids? Yeah, I could pretty much always use more simple and less…not simple.}
That something is Simple Sentiments.
It’s sweet, people.
Just take your Paper Crafts magazine, flip all the way to the last page, and ta-da! There they are.
But it gets even better.
All of those cute little sentiments are available online.
Right HERE.
That means you can just print them out and ba da bing, ba da boom! They’re ready to use.
So I did.
See?

And look…I even attempted a single layer.
{Go me!}
I just printed the Bee Mine sentiment out on white cardstock and stuck it right down on top of my card.
To add a bit of depth, I stamped a bumble bee on some vellum, colored him in super quick with some markers, and then stuck him right on.

Ah…simple, right?
Just the way I like it.
To show you just how versatile these sentiments are, all six Go-to Gals (and two editors!) have created cards and added them to the new Simple Sentiments gallery. With eight designs in every issue, my crafty friends and I will continue to bring you cards featuring these fabulous sentiments.
I’d love to see you try your hand at the Simple Sentiments from the new January/February 2011 issue! I can totally see these Valentine-y sentiments on some wrapped treats or tags wrapped around some simple card sets or…my favorite…lots and lots of cards.
So show us what you got and upload a project today!
It’s super simple.
Promise.
Jessica Witty,
Paper Crafts Go-to Gal

Love the cards! Especially the “bee mine”, so simple and so cheerful!
i am so into simple cards! thanks, cute idea!
I soooooo wish I could pull off the clean and simple like you! Your card is just so cute.
I LOVE the bee card. I love that you made pin holes for the bee trail, and I love that you used vellum for the bee! I’m going to remember these techniques, and use them. I hope that you don’t mind….
Love your sweet “Bee Mine” card, Jessica! Wish I could master the CAS look…I always feel something more need to be added~arghhhh!
)
Working on that is one of my New Year’s Resolutions
Jessica–Your ‘bee mine’ card is bee-utiful!!!
aDORable! love the strong yellow with light blue, the ‘honeycomb’ background pattern, the ‘stitched’ curl, and that bee! there is a lot going on there for a CAS card! love it! ~K
I love your card Jessica!!! Love the bee too
Your article was a joy to read, and it just kept making me smile over and over again…
I just have one baby ( not 3 as you do!) and I find so little time to get all of my card ideas executed… sadly many of them remain as a roughly sketched idea on some scrap paper… sigh… if only I did not need to sleep I could get everything done!
I’m plain and simple, too, but that first card is gorgeous! You have lots of detail on yours, though, embossing, stitching, and that cute bakers twine.
Love your card…so cute!!! I’m a simple kind of gal too..thanks for sharing!
Hugs,

haha, that was too funny. I love both styles! I like to think I fall in the middle somewhere, LOL!
I know what you mean, and just imagine, my name is Jessica too. When I decide to play with layers, it costs me a mint to send! So it’s back to simple for me. But I do love the look of layers, and popped up things and buttons and brads and ribbons. There’s so much to use, and so little real estate on a card!
I sure wish I could go to CKC Louisville! I have family and a friend near there where I could stay. But I can’t leave my mom alone for any thing longer than 15 minutes. So maybe next time! Thanks for sharing!
Great work! I’m a CAS gal myself… love your card.
I love the looks of the embellishments and the layering, but so far, I haven’t found my gene for doing it yet. So, I really like the plain, simple, and clean look of the “Bee Mine” also – it’s a hit withi me!
