I love to give these WONDERFUL cookies that we make at Christmas time called Pecan Sandies. They are pecan goodness rolled in powdered sugar. They are NOTHING like the “Pecan Sandies” that you buy in the stores…They are SO SO SO much better. A recepie that my mom has had as long as I can remember & we’ve been using since I was a little little kid. They are a family tradition at Christmas time & make a wonderful gift.

  2. Jackie Posnansky says:

I make Passover Toffee Bars to give at Passover. My nephews LOVE them! A friend I used to work with gave me this delicious recipe. You use matzah crackers, butter, brown sugar, chopped walnuts and chocolate chips. I could eat it all year but it is a special treat for Passover!
It’s yummy and makes a great gift!!!

I like to make Almond bread at Christmas. It is a light biscuit that is sliced thinly and cooked a second time. It is studded with almonds and glace cherries and pineapple. You can buy plain almond bread (no cherries etc) but it is very expensive and not half as nice! They look very festive in a cellophane bad with curling ribbon and people really appreciate them as a gift.

My favorite foods to give away are cookies, with personalized tags-die cut, embossed, flashy papers, embellished, etc. (I think they like seeing what kind of different ideas I can come up with better than the treats!) My personal best was cookies in a large soup can with the top cut off with a safety edge can opener. Then I put the cookies in and glued the top (with no sharp edges) back on. (I use the pull tab type cans for this). It’s just like it has been resealed somehow by me. Then I cut a sheet of decorative paper to the size of the can, adherred it, and decorated it with all kinds of neat stuff. (stamped, die cut, embossed, embellished). Everyone loved it! Also did this for co-workers with Nuts inside, and put “to the Nuts I Work With” on the label-Big Hit!
