Ever have one of those days when things don’t go your way?
You know the type:
- The kind of day when you have five minutes to get out the door and you can’t find your keys.
- The kind of day when you want a glass of milk. You go to the refrigerator and discover the milk is expired.
- The kind of day when everyone, including the dog, wants something from you and doesn’t care what you want to do.
Sound familiar?
One of the biggest reasons I love card making is it gives me time to forget about the not-so-fun parts of the day and focus on the happy stuff.
I like to say that sometimes you have to make your own rainbow. Card making has a way of putting me in a happy spot and helping me make rainbows every day.
I recently had one of “those days” so I made a few rainbows of my own to share with you today. I even drew inspiration from a cheery, real-life rainbow for each of them.
I used markers to color the girl’s dress in a tie dye pattern on this card. I also used the same markers to color white seam binding ribbon so I could put some matching ribbon off the edge of the card.
I used strips of cardstock to make the rainbow here. To give a few of the strips some extra kick, I tied twine onto them.
Finally, I stamped a rainbow of sorts on this card. I started with the star border stamp and then stamped it with red, yellow, orange, green, blue and purple ink pads.

My favorite colour is PINK, I have so much pink it is crazy,luckily I have a girl. When I ordered hot pink paper from one of the paper companies the reps husband asked ” Who ordered a whole package of hot pink paper?” She said that I had and he wasn’t surprised. LOL.
Red is my favorite color. Thanks for the rainbow of inspiration. We are working on redecorating the daughter’s bedroom — all based on the white desk with rainbow color knobs that she painted.
