We’re excited to introduce Creating Keepsakes new publication, Creative Spaces (on sale today)! And I’m thrilled that my craft room was chosen to be featured in this brand new magazine.

I thought I’d give you a closer look at some of the storage in my space – I spend a good portion of my free time in this space and it’s important to me that it be welcoming and inspiring. In order to do that, I’ve created fun, useful storage that’s mostly upcycled! Here’s one side of my craft room:

For instance, the stamp shelves you see here were a display cabinet in one of my favorite stores. The store had sold out of the items it was using the cabinet for and I picked it up for the bargain price of $20. Can’t beat that! This little beauty might have ended up in a dumpster! Now it graces my space and allows me to easily access stamps that I tend to go to most often.

Another great find is this ribbon storage created from an old tool crate. I purchased it at an antique store for $15, painted it red and added the number accent. I keep this on my wrapping table so I can access ribbon right away!

I think my favorite item in my wrapping area is this old crock that we received from our sweet Grandma Lucy. It’s just got so much character! I keep my extra wrapping paper in it. It’s just a little bit of heaven!

And finally, keeping all those little paper pieces accessible and in eyesight is easy with this old, wooden tape measure. It’s not the most unique idea — I stole the idea from one of my Pottery Barn design books — but Pottery Barn never used it like this! I love that it’s a bit messy and that so many inspiring products are on display.

So here’s my challenge to you…Find things you love and make them work in your space. If it’s the wrong color, paint it! Look for items that you can alter or use in a different way. I love to shop thrift stores, consignment and antique stores for unique items to dress up my space.

Wouldn’t you love to win this inspiring publication? Well, we’d love to give it to you! Simply leave your comment below and we’ll pick one lucky winner. All comments must be received by midnight (MDT) on Wednesday, May 11.

Thanks for stopping by!

  23. Sonya Everding says:

I have been cleaning and moving and cleaning and moving…..for a month…ca’t seem to get my craft room in a flow. BUT IWILL NOT BE DEFEATED…any help would be GREATLY appreciated. TIP: I do use a shoe holder that hangs over the door for odds and ends and a sweated holder that hanges in the closet for different items in boxes or cases like embellishments, etc nothing too heavy. Those have seemed to help some.

  24. Char-D says:

Some great ideas. I could use some more to help me rearrange my studio.

  26. Ellen Boyle says:

I am continually re-inventing / reorganizing my studio space (usually in an attempt to fit in one more thing!). I love the idea of things being out and visible, but worry about sun (fading) and dust (ICK!!) — so my storage is fairly utilitarian. Would love to see more ideas.

  27. mandi says:

I just made a wall hanging today to display my latest paper crafted projects. I would love to have this issue so I can make my space even more creative.

  28. Susan McMenamin says:

I love to upcycle and recycle so my craft room is a hodgepodge of old drawers, crocks, and type cases. Love it in it’s glorious mess!

I really need HELP! My craft room is a mess. A disaster!! I had help moving my stuff from one room to another. Well it was moved alright. Things were just thrown in on the tables, the floor and anyplace there was an empty space. Now I don’t know where to start. I really need this book.
