Welcome to Magazine Monday! Today we’re kicking off Round 2 in our exciting Gallery Idol competition. The Top 15 finalists were only given three days to create their cards for this week’s round of voting. I can’t wait to see their out-of-the-box interpretations of the assigned theme: creative die cuts.
With this week’s special theme, I thought I would show some of the projects from the Creative Die Cuts feature in our July/August 2011 issue. And these cards just happen to be made by two of our current finalists! Check out the fun designs of Amy Wanford and Cristina Kowalczyk:

In Amy's Hearts & Clouds Card (p. 59), she used the negative from the cloud die cut as a stencil for her background.

In Cristina's Just Because Card (p. 63), she die-cut a label and adhered it with foam tape over the pink card base.
Creative uses of die cuts, right? Once noon (MDT) rolls around, click HERE to preview the Top 15′s cards and to vote for your favorite. In case you’re conflicted on who to vote for, according to the official rules of Gallery Idol 2011: “Cards should be judged on overall appearance, creativity, execution, and conformity to theme.” As one reader pointed out last week, “This is serious business; a cruise is on the line!” And with that, best of luck to our Top 15!
Happy Monday!
Kelly
