Welcome to Magazine Monday! Today we’re kicking off Round 1 in our exciting Gallery Idol competition. The Top 20 finalists were only given three days to create their DIY embellishment-themed cards for this week’s round of voting. Needless to say, it’s been a weekend of whirlwind card making!
With this week’s special theme, I thought I would show some of the cards from the DIY Embellishments feature in our July/August 2011 issue. Who knew you could make such cool focal points from items found around the house? Perhaps the Top 20 will incorporate similar ideas in their cards!
Check out these inspiring projects by Jane Beljo and Teri Anderson:
In Jane's Hugs Tag, she created the butterfly embellishment by layering die-cutted hearts; in Teri's Big Button Hi Card, she attached layered buttons to paper clips to create a fun set of removable bookmarks.
Great DIY embellishments, right? Once noon (MDT) rolls around, come back here to get all the voting details for Round 1. I’ve gotten a sneak peek of the Top 20′s cards and they are truly amazing in both out-of-the-box creativity and design. They’re definitely “in it to win it.” I’m just glad it’s now up the voters to determine who moves ahead in the competition…last week was brutal, people!
