Welcome to Freebie Friday! If you’re a fan of using sketches in your card designs, you won’t want to miss a single day of our Card Ideas Week.
Beginning on Monday, we’re celebrating our latest special issue, Card Ideas for Paper Crafters. Based on the popularity of last year’s Go-to Sketches, this sequel features 288 cards made from 72 sketches. And this time around all 72 sketches were designed by some of your favorite Paper Crafts designers.
Once again we’re partnering with trends editor Cath Edvalson and the Moxie Fab World blog to bring you five days of sketch-filled fun. Between both sites, we’ll be spotlighting your favorite designers’ cards (and sketches), hosting some fun challenges and giving away some fabulous prizes (including issues)!
We’ve broken up this issue into four sections: shaped cards, square cards, horizontal cards and vertical cards. For each sketch there’s a lead card (which is a direct interpretation) and three additional takes (even flipped, rotated or turned). Today I thought I’d share one of my favorite sketches from the issue:

Sketch by Julia Stainton, p. 28
I knew our designers would interpret this sketch in so many fun ways. Check out these inspiring cards by Maggie Haas, Charity Hassel and Julia Stainton:

Wish Upon a Star, New Home Congrats and Way to Go Cards, p. 29
Fantastic cards, right? Leave a comment telling me why you like working with sketches. I’ll pick three winners to take home a copy of Card Ideas for Paper Crafters, plus one of the three paper collections featured in the cards above! All comments must be received by midnight (MDT) on Sunday, August 21.
Happy Friday!
Kelly
P.S. Join us on Monday when we spotlight the talented Lindsay Amrhein!
P.P.S. It’s time to announce the winner from Julie’s School is Cool post!
Amy C. (Aug. 17, 11:46 a.m.)
Congrats, Amy! I’ll be contacting you shortly to discuss your prizes and get your mailing address. Thanks to all who left comments!

Love sketches for providing inspiration!
Oh I love that star one! Thanks for the chance to win!
Sweet! I still have my copy of the 5/10 Go To Sketches and I love it! Still sketch challenged, but every little bit of inspiration helps!
I love sketches – they totally help me get unstuck, especially when my mojo has gone AWOL! Thanks for the chance to win a copy of this yummy issue!
I like working with sketches because it is easier to keep your design on track. And…I just love the sketch used here!!! I will be using that one myself!!!
Can’t wait to see what other sketches are in the new magazine!!!
I like sketches because it makes the design a lot simpler for me. I usually get stuck in the design even when I have papers, etc in mind. I would LOVE to win this issue!
Sketches are a great way to jumpstart things when my mojo is a little lacking!
Even though I always have ideas of different elements I want to put together, I find it hard to lay it out on a card… this is where the fab sketches come in!!

I wish I would have found this last Friday because I would love the chance to have won the magazine. Oh well, I’ll stay tuned for the inspiration because that’s what really help me to put cards together.
