Groovin’ with the Go-to Gals – Fall Color Inspiration

Betsy Veldman

One of my favorite things about fall is color. The colors around us in nature, fashion, home décor and of course paper crafting, take on warmer, richer hues.

But even with all of this rich color around me, I often get in a rut with my fall crafting by sticking to oranges and browns.

So I spent a little time putting together some color boards to broaden my color horizons this fall.

Inspiration for fall color combos can come from beautiful photographs…

From fall fashions, especially for the little ones!

And of course, from paper crafting products themselves…

You’ll notice below each of the images I have put together a color board.

To do this, I saved the images to my computer and then used the eye dropper tool in my Photoshop program to pick colors directly from the photos. It’s an easy way to create a file of inspiring color combinations that you can refer to any time you get stuck in a color rut!

Here are some fall cards I created using the inspiring (and colorful) Happy Harvest collection from Imaginisce:

You don’t need a ton of supplies to make a great card (although they sure are fun!). The first two cards below use only patterned paper and cardstock.

The sentiments and apples were cut from patterned paper. A little fussy cutting can go a long way!

My last card uses a fun chipboard focal point which I embellished with some buttons and twine. It’s fun to take products and give them your own twist.

If you’d like to win the Happy Harvest collection that I used in the cards above, along with a copy of Color Inspiration for Card Makers (which, by the way, is filled with inspiring color combos already put together for you!), leave a comment telling me which of the color combos I shared today inspires you the most! All comments must be received by midnight (MDT) on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Betsy Veldman,
Paper Crafts Go-to Gal

P.S. Stop by my blog for one more card inspired by one of the photos above!
