Groovin’ With the Go-To Gals: The Buttons Meet the Brads

Teri Anderson

I’ve said it before and I will say it again.

I am a do-it-yourself kinda gal.

I get the biggest kick out of tinkering around with my craft supplies and trying to come up with unique, one-of-a-kind embellishments.

The other day I was looking at my vat of buttons and brads and thought it would be fun to try to mix them together. After a bit of messing around, I came up with something I like to call: Button brads.

Button brads are way cute and really easy to make. All you need is: floss; buttons (small and large); brads (preferably big ones, but small ones will work); a hot glue gun and scissors.

Start by using floss to tie two buttons together. (Note: Nevermind said Go-to Gal’s bandage in the picture. Paper trimming incident. But I digress.)

Bring floss through the back side of your buttons and knot it. Snip off the excess floss.

Squeeze a glob of hot glue onto the back side of the stacked button. Press a brad into the glue. Let the brad sit until the glue cools.

The end result?

Cute, adorable button brads!

They make fun accents for any card!

Here I placed two button brads on my card. Then, I wrapped a piece of string around them.

They also make great flower centers like on the teal Storytellers journaling card from Ormolu.

Cute, huh?

Ready to make some button brads of your own?

Leave a comment for me by Thursday at 5 PM MDT, and I’ll pick one of you to win some brads and buttons from the Paper Crafts magazine prize vault.

Yours in crafting fun,

Teri Anderson
