With this resolution in mind, I pulled out several sets of fun sentiment stamps. I don’t know about you, but I often struggle with how and where to place sentiments on my cards. (I admit, sentiments are usually the last thing I think of –shhh).
After playing around a little bit, I came up with three tips for you.

This first one is kind of a Kesti classic. I call it the “when in doubt, cut a word bubble” technique. I just think word bubbles are so engaging and fun. Single word messages usually work out best, but you can try longer sentiments, too.

This next one is really simple, too. Stamp your sentiment on plain white cardstock, then cut a trendy little banner. They are cute attached to your card with brads, buttons, staples, ribbon; just about anything. Try stamping in colored ink to match your card, too.

Tip #3 is a tiny bit trickier, but not hard. Use a masking technique to stamp your sentiment in two different colors. I stamped the word “happy” in pink first, and then used a sticky note to cover it when I came back with the green ink for “birthday”. Using two colors sure adds a lot of pizzazz to a simple card.
So, what do you think? Ready to join me in more stamping during 2012? Perhaps you need a little more incentive. How about leaving me a comment about your crafting resolution and I will enter you to win this delicious bundle of stamping goodness! Comments must be received by Thursday at 5 PM MST!

And, if one of your resolutions is to be published in 2012, don’t forget to check out our new call for Stamp It! Cards 9! Best of luck to all my stamping friends out there!
Go-to Gal Kim Kesti

I’ve decided to make 2 of each card I make so I can build up my card stash.
Thanks for these tips – I needed to hear them! Thanks, too, for the chance to win some awesome stamps… because heaven knows I don’t have enough rubbah (NOT)! ;~D
My resolution this year is to stay better connected w/ family and friends so I’ve committed to making and sending 5 cards a week. Not an easy task, especially when the creative jucies don’t flow, but so far it’s working!!
I definitly want to try and get something published this year! I have been putting it off, but what am I waiting for anyway?
I would like to try to get some of my work published. Wish me luck…LOL Thanks fofr a chance .
One of my “stamping” goals for this year is to “meet” other stampers either in person by joining a stamping group in my community or through the internet and blogs and forums…I also want to stamp more and learn new techniques…thanks for the chance to win this great prize package!!!
Thanks for the ideas. I really need to at least try and submit a card of two this year. Thanks for the reminder.
To get published {again}……it’s been years!
My “goal” (not a resolution!) is to use up this bag of adhesive I have amassed and so far so good. I’ve used up a roll of double stick tape and am trying out a bottle of Pritt Paper Glue (it’s awesome!). My other goal is use more stickers including dimensional stickers and alphabets. That one isn’t going quite as well because I still don’t tend to think of them.
I guess my resolution is to add a “calendar” spread in my art journal for ea. month this year and add a word or note or little pic for each day. So far so good
and I want to get a blog going so I have a place to share my challenge and project pieces (working on it). How I’d LOVE to win these stamps-I could never have too many sentiments and this collection would be perfect for my current project-thanks for the chance to win!
So reassuring when a “Go-to Gal” admits to a weakness…makes us mere mortals feel better! My resolution? To send more cards just because…I center my cards too much around occasions and neglect those opportunities to brighten someone’s day unexpectedly.
So cute! Looking forward to trying new things this year.
My resolution this year is to make my frst sale on Etsy. I met my January goal of setting up and opening my shop. Now, to become more diligent during the work week so that my weekends can have more stamping and designing time. And uploading to my Etsy shop. Thanks for raising the bar with your very cute cards.
My crafting resolution is to break down the card making process into steps that I can do a little each day and then get more cards made in the long run. Sitting down in one sitting to make a card sometimes doesn’t work with 3 little kiddies running around. Thanks for the chance to win.
I love all the amazing sentiments available. My scrappy resolution is to scrap more as I enjoy it so much.
I have recently gotten back to my card making roots and loved today’s post!
I too have trouble with sentiments sometimes, thanks for the hints!
I have just started making cards and am loving it! After finding a space in my house (finally out of the attic which stunted my creativity and sent me digital) and reorganizing my scraping stuff, I am having so much fun touching products again and creating. I am loving your website, your inspiration, and your “how to’s”. I am certainly behind in the new products but am thankful to be learning how to stamp!
Thanks!
My resolution is to learn as many new techniques and tips as I can! Thanks for your blog and all the inspiration it offers (and the chance to win!)!
Thank you for your great tips today, I have a major issue in how & where to put sentiments! My goals this year are to make more then one card at a time, to build up a stash, as I always seem to wait til the last minute!!!
mine is to get into shape and get published this year..
Thanks for all the great inspiration…
My goal is to use up some of my accumulated stash, think outside the box with what I already have and learn how to upload cards for submissions!
My resolution – make a BUNCH of cards ahead of time so I’m not scrambling last minute to get it done! (the card usually isn’t that cute when I do this lol) Thanks for the tips Kim – these are super helpful…trying them tomorrow when I make some cards!
Thanks for the great tips, the post it note idea is fantastic! I have two cardmaking resolutions this year:
1.) Make 10 Christmas cards each month so that I am not scrambling trying to fulfill friend requests and for myself like I was this year.
2.) Stamps are my addiction, I buy often and have a ton…my resolution is dust off all my older stamps that have been neglected or not used at all and challenge myself to using every single stamp I own five times or more in 2012.
My resolutions is to make albums with pictures of my daughters…
My goal for the first quarter of this year is to use up more of my stash to make room for all the 2012 goodies that are coming my way. I’d also like to reorganise my crafting space so I can work better and more efficiently.
And my resolution for 2012 is to finally answer a publication call for Paper Crafts. (I can worry about actually getting published later…)
What an awesome bunch of stamps! I’d love to add them to my collection, despite my goal of desashing in 2012, lol.
My goal is to organize my craft room so I can get more card-making done.
Well, mine is two fold. My first and foremost is to get out of the shadows and get a blog already-lol but really I have everything I want, how I want it to look, I just need to take the plunge. The second part of it is to use the blog to post to different challenges. I think I’ve always worried what others would say about my creations or worse yet, the comments they wouldn’t make but I have to put myself out there. If anything it will help me grow and learn new techniques.
My goal is to make a card right away when I get a new stamp set. That way I know I will use what I buy.
Resolution..use a new stamp from my stash every week.
My resolution this year is to clean up one project before I start the next! Thanks for the chance to win.
I have a gift box ready to fill for a friend of mine. She hates to go to the store and buy cards. I have decided to fill that box with cards for all occasions so that she will have them at her fingertips. While I am at it, I want to make an extra set for me. Thanks for sharing your stamping with us.
I would like 2 start making cards. So far have just scrapped my kids photos. This would b a gr8 starter kit!
Hello, hello!! I absolutely ADORABLE that small little blue “hi” next to that telephone, and you’re right about word bubbles, they are fun and playful – why didn’t I think of this sooner? Thanks for sharing, and Happy New Year!
My crafting resolution is to get all caught up and try new things, like stamping.
I need to be more timely in sending out cards. They will make an announcement at church and I will forget and the next thing you know, they are back at church and the card doesn’t get sent.
this would be a great gift , I can’t by a lot of the great product . but i get a little at a time, would love to make more more paper craft an cards.
I resolve to try to set some time a side to make some projects to submit for magazine calls.
What gorgeous cards!
I love your ideas and am always grateful for the inspiration! My resolution for this year is to simplify things. I have collected so many different things over the years and am planning on using them or donating them to a preschool or church so they can help make others happy. Again, I look forward to your posts and all of the cool ideas you have to share!
