If you didn’t already know, the May/June issue went on sale yesterday!

The May/June issue has tons of great projects for moms and dads.  There’s even a designer challenge section where two designers were challenged to use the same set of product to create both a masculine and feminine card!  Talk about stretching our creative muscles!

I decided to take the concept of that column and apply it to another project in the issue.  I chose this Defining Dad card by Marlene Lo from the “Dressing up Dad” feature as my inspiration for a Mother’s Day card!

Mustaches for Mother’s Day?  Probably not, but there are tons of other inspiring details on Marlene’s card.  First is the subway/word art—how incredibly trendy!  I don’t have a word art stamp that’s appropriate for Mother’s Day, but I do have tons of individual sentiments that are perfect, so I combined them to create my own!

And where Marlene accented the “A” on her card with a mustache, I chose a much more feminine route and went with a doily sticker and button.  Her silver brads that have a definite masculine feel?  I switched those out for some embellished buttons.

It just goes to show, inspiration can be found anywhere.  I hope I’ve inspired you to look at each project not only for the great creation that it is, but also for what it could be!

Are you ready to get busy creating projects for all of the moms and dads in your life?  I have a great giveaway to help you do just that!  I used the This & That Graceful collection from Echo Park Paper for my project today.

LOVE you take on how you translated the DAD card into a MOM card…gave me the inspiration to “see” things with new eyes. I find it easier to make feminine cards, but I want to craft more masculine designs. Would LOVE to win both kits, they are incredible!

I have been known to send men/boys cards with floral images and women/girls cards with gears and robots! I try to think about the person and what they like (interests and colors) and work from there. My crafting style is more collage-based, so everything is fair game in my opinion.
