Let’s be honest. Crafting is super fun. For a lot of people, it’s a de-stresser. And not only does it allow you to get your creative juices flowing, but you can be proud of a handmade creation when you finish a project. Crafting is a wonderful hobby.

And that’s why you and I are both here on the blog today. We love crafting!

And so did everyone who attended our editorial board meeting this week. (Remember how I mentioned the meeting in this morning’s post?) Would you like to get to know the attendees a little bit better? On our website we have mini biographies for each of the Go-to Gals as well as the editors and designers here at Paper Crafts. Click on the links to learn a little bit about all of us!

Now since it’s National Honesty Day, be honest! Tell me what you love about crafting. What really gets you going? Why do you craft?

Thanks for checking in!

WOW! Just read a book to the 1st and 2nd graders about being honest since it’s Honesty Day. I love crafting because I get to be creative and make someone else smile.
People don’t get much fun mail these days so I love sending cards beyond the usual birthdays. I use my “Thinking of you stamp” and “Just because” stamp often.:)

  2. April W says:

Ok, if I’m going to be completely honest and tell you what I love most about crafting, it’s playing with all the GOODIES!! I mean of course I love that I’m recording wonderful memories for my family and getting to tell them all how much they mean to me, but playing with all the gorgeous papers, and stamps, and flowers, and ribbon, etc, etc, etc…there’s nothing better! ;)

  3. Tona says:

I started out just making layouts. Then as an excuse to buy more product, (you did say to be honest lol), I started making cards. I actually make many more cards then layouts now. I think that people appreciate getting a little piece of handmade happy mail in their mailbox.
What I really like about crafting is the willingness of people to share their projects online which I find very inspirational.

  4. Nancy L. says:

thats funny because just yesterday my 10 year old says to me “tbh”. and i asked her what that meant “to be honest”! so i love card making because it just relaxes me!

  5. Geri G. says:

I love that there are absolutely no boundaries!!! Creations can be whatever you want them to be. Our lives are full of rules (don’t get me wrong, this is a GOOD thing) so it is fun to have an outlet governed by rules that we set ourselves!

  6. Amy Jones #8546 says:

What I really like about crafting is being able to create fun timeless things. I love sitting down and creating. Beautiful things sometimes just come out of no where. It is relaxing and it is me. I have always loved art of all kinds. Always been drawn to it. It is something that makes me feel free to be me and do what I want to do.

  7. Mary Mac says:

I make my own cards and love pulling out my papers, cardstock and embellishments and start putting things together. Never ends up how I first thought which is the fun of it.

  8. Cheryl svend says:

My favorite is the AC cardstock and especially love the seasonal assortments.

  9. Mary Lou H says:

I enjoy taking a couple of different items – putting them together and coming up with something decorative and useful. It brings out the creative side of me without being really messy and I can use up some of the things that are just sitting around.

  10. Noreen says:

It isn’t so much that I love to craft, but I HAVE to craft! I get ideas and can’t rest until I try them out.. or at least write them down to try when I have the materials and time.

  11. Caryn S. says:

Usually I craft when I need something. That’s really what gets me inspired. I’ll make cards when a birthday is coming up or when my kids have a party to go to, when I need to do something with photos from a trip and I’m tired of seeing them sit around in envelopes, when I need to organize or I get a new idea for doing it. Once I get that bug I am like a woman on a mission! I tend to agree with Noreen above too, I get an idea and I HAVE to try it!

  12. Tara Capewell says:

i craft a it is the only time that i actually get time for myself! and the kids cannot hassle me!!!

  13. I love being able to create things for others to enjoy and the fact that it’s a destresser doesn’t hurt either.

  14. kathy/NorthCarolina says:

I craft because the voices in my head keep telling me to…and to buy paper….and ink….and stamps…..LOL! I love taking bits and pieces and turning them into something that has never been seen before. I love the satisfaction I feel when a project comes together. I love the anticipation I feel when I sit down at my desk, surrounded by all my “toys.” I love the feeling I get when I create a one of a kind gift for a friend or loved one.

  15. Dee in NH says:

I love that it’s something that I can do just for my own pure joy. I know that sounds selfish but we spend all our time making the family, bosses and countless others happy. It’s so nice to do something just for the pure joy of doing it. The bonus is bringing smiles to others when they receive your handmade creations.

  16. Lady Di says:

I love to craft because I enjoy being creative and designing something that is so cute or beautiful when done that I can hardly believe I created it. I love giving a part of me to a loved one whether family or friend. After reading thru my magazines and books, I gather new techniques and ideas and put them on a card. Crafting keeps my mind, body and spirit thriving and growing.

  17. Bethany Becker says:

I love crafting because there is no right or wrong way to scrapbook. I think that I am my worst critic though.

I love to make cards tailor made for the recipient. I love the process of creating and the
products that I get to use. Creating with paper has made me see the whole world in
a much more vibrant, colorful way.

  20. Natalie Winterstein says:

I have many reasons I craft: to share my heart with others, too relieve the stress of the day, to express my creative side and so I can hoard all these amazing suppplies! (You said honesty right?)

  21. Crafting is a great stress reliever. It kinda just makes all your cares and worries go away, if only for a short time. Plus I need an excuse to use all my hoarded supplies so I can buy more. :)

  22. agnes says:

Crafting is my therapy. It makes me feel good.

  23. Jennifer says:

I love when I am working on something and it comes out so pretty that I surprise myself. Lol…I also love getting lost in my papers and actually feeling a ping of pain when I cut into one that is particularly gorgeous.

  24. I love cardmaking and scrapbooking. I’m really happy at a craft store, and I buy an new tool.

  25. Liva Kalnina says:

Why do I craft? I actually don’t know – it’s just something that I can not live without – almost like breathing – you don’t go asking why do you breath – you just do it! The same is with crafting. Besides, crafting is way more fun than just breathing :)

  26. To share. To share my heart, my art, my loves, my journey…sometimes it’s just to work out the stress! lol There’s just something about creating and getting messy that soothes my soul. And paper is so available and affordable! :)

  27. Anne Hartschlag says:

Crafting soothes my soul. When I am making cards I can’t think about anything else other than the project I am working on. There are no rules or boundaries so the sky is the limit.

  28. sue says:

Crafting, especially paper crafting, is just plain fun! No matter if I have 10 minutes or 2 hours, working with paper I can always see progress. Many cards are easily done in 10 minutes and you can make a mini album in 2 hours max.

  29. Angie says:

I love that peaceful place that my mind goes when I begin to work on a card, when I stamp the image, color, cut. Even though I am a beginner I get so excited when I look at the finished project. I am objective enough to know that it isn’t a work of art like I see on Pinterest and in the magazines but it’s my creation and with each project I get a little better and that thrills me!!

  30. Sarah M says:

My mom is the reason I started crafting, now I just do it because I really enjoy it. I love so much about it, being able to create something from scratch, giving gifts with more meaning, having “me” time, de-stressing, all of the cute materials, I could really go on and on. What really gets me going on crafting is that there is always an occasion happening (birthdays, holidays, new babies, etc) so I always have an excuse to make something. :)

  31. Charlene Paxton says:

I love cardmaking, one of greatest things is friends I have made doing this craft. We have so much fun creating and talking together.

  32. N@ Ali says:

since the birth of my twins, cardmaking has become a way to keep sane by doing something else!

  33. Ekrem says:

Tied pillows are cnmiog into vogue as a craft just now. You buy a pillow form and some fleece. Measure the pillow form all the way around its middle; they’re bigger than they look. Divide that measurement by 2. Add 10 to your answer. Make a pattern and cut two pieces of the fleece to fit the resulting answer. (If you started with a pillow form that measured 32 around, you’d divide that by 2 and get 16 . Add 10 to that and get 26 . If your pillow form is round, you’ll cut a pattern for a 26 circle and then use your pattern to cut two of those from your fleece. To make a perfect circle any size, tie a pencil to a piece of string. Pin the string to the center of the circle find that by measuring leaving just the right length to reach half the diameter of the circle. It works like a giant compass. If your pillow form is square, make a pattern for a square with 26 sides, then cut two of those from your fleece.) Measuring carefully, make perpendicular 5 cuts about 3/4 apart all around the edge of your fleece pieces. Put the pillow form in the middle of one fleece piece and lay the other one on top of it. Tie all the little tabs together to make a no-sew pillow with fringe around the edge. These make fun Christmas gifts, too.Email me (by clicking on the name under the grey smiley box over there) if you have questions.
