Springing into Paper Crafts!

Even though there’s really nothing “regular” about our regular bi-monthly issues of Paper Crafts magazine, it seems like we don’t give them the same big unveiling that we do for our special issues. (If you missed the blog parties, check out our launch weeks for Practical Solutions for Paper Crafters, Party Ensembles, and Cool Tools for Paper Crafters and you’ll see what I mean.)

But the May/June 2012 issue hit the stands (and your mailboxes) within the last week or so, and I think it deserves a formal introduction:

The May/June 2012 issue of Paper Crafts magazine is full of inspiration to make cards (and more!) for Moms, Dads, and Grads – plus everyone else on your list.

A few reasons to love this issue—and feel free to play along if you have your copy nearby:

1.       We’ve rearranged our Table of Contents (pgs. 4-5) to make it easier to find your favorite sections of the magazine. It’s now categorized by Inspiration, How-to, and Insights along with larger photos of the featured projects. We love it and hope you will too.

2.       The Moxie Fabs column puts the focus on spectacular spectacles, and you’ll see that eyeglasses have a spunky way of inspiring all sorts of card-making projects. (Kim Kesti’s I Heart Nerds Card on p. 30 made all of us giggle.)

3.       Our newest book is coming soon. Card Sketches for Paper Crafters (seen on p. 15) is 288 pages of must-have paper-crafting inspiration. You’ll be able to find it here as soon as it’s for sale in our online store!

5.       Three words: EXCLUSIVE DIGITAL CONTENT. If you’re a subscriber, you automatically have access to our digital issues where you’ll find project inspiration that doesn’t appear in the print issue (and that’s 12 full pages—22 bonus projects!). If you haven’t registered for our digital issues yet, you can do that here.

6.       A timely and clever batch of downloadable sentiments for Moms, Dads, and Grads. (Our own P. Kelly Smith used one to make a fun and funky gift card holder for a graduate; see it on p. 87.)

Perfect for a graduate at any level!

Now, for anyone with sharp eyes, I’ve got a challenge. In all our excitement over getting this issue to the printer, we made one little goof. If you can find it, tell me in the comments by Monday, April 16th at 5pm MDT and I’ll pick three random (and CORRECT!) commenters to receive a copy of Card Sketches for Paper Crafters. Hint: check out pgs. 26-29.

With a spring in my step,

It seems that the sketches for a gift bag and a card were switched… Happens!

  2. LOVE LOVE LOVE this issue! and I think that Julie Campbell’s card and bag should be reversed on pages 27 and 29, so they match the appropriate sketch for this feature. they’re both LOVELY, of course! I don’t know if the fact that there are no instructions is an error, because I have seen other projects that just list the supplies, but that is definitely something noticeable!

thank you for the “puzzle” – I love stuff like this! and I can’t WAIT to get my hands on a copy of that special issue!! SO excited!

  3. I saw right away when I received my copy in the mail that the gift bag did not match the sketch – it seems that Julie Campbell’s projects for the two sketches were switched!

  4. Lya L. says:

Hi there, this one was tricky!
Looks like it is the gift bag and card, both from Julie Campbell, that were switched for the sketches shown.
I noticed it the first time while browsing the pages, but now I’m pretty sure about it!
Thanks for the chance to win!

  5. Sharon Gullikson says:

The gift bag and card were backward. How funny.

  6. B. Poteraj says:

Well, the sketches for the gift bag and card were switched by accident. I’m surprised that more accidents don’t happen. I tend to notice mistakes in movies and on tv. You do a great job of getting it correct month after month.

  7. ALOC says:

I never even noticed an error. I did not think the bag was out of place! Guess the projects had all my attention…lol.

  8. Lynne in NI says:

Hee, I’d noticed that Julie’s projects were on the wrong sketch page! Fabulous issue by the way, loads of lovely inspiration there!

  9. Becky Cowley says:

I see that Julie Campbell’s Congrats Grad Gift Bag and Daddy Card were put with the wrong sketches, the bag should go on page 29, and the card should go on page 27. Another thing I noticed, and maybe this isn’t the mistake that you were talking about, but I noticed that in the past issues of PC magazine that I have the Online Bonus Projects are listed to go to http://www.PaperCraftsConnection.Com, while in this May/June issue it lists PaperCraftsMag.com/projects as the place to go. (both get you there, but I just noticed it is different.)

  10. Natalie Winterstein says:

Julie Campbell’s bag should be on page 29 and her card should be on page 27. :) Love the issue and can’t wait for the sketches special issue!

  11. Lori B says:

Looks like Julie Campbell’s projects were switched – bag should be on page 29 and card on page 27. Hummm…should the ending date for this contest be Friday, April 13th or Monday, April 16th? LOL!!

  12. Elaine says:

One of the graduation caps is upside down on the downloadable sentiments.

  13. Carolynn Wilson says:

I always enjoy the out-of-the-box interpretations of the sketches, but I think Julie Campbell’s Congrats Grad Gift Bag and her Daddy Card got matched to the wrong sketches… oops! But, by this little contest, you found a way of making your mistake something fun… Beautiful cards, great magazine, love the changes and the digital edition– you gals are fabulous! :)

  14. Marsha F says:

The sketches for the card & gift bag were switched.

  15. Colleen says:

Julie Campbell’s gift bag and card sketches were switched around. Very funny, but great issue!!

  16. Emily Keaton says:

    Looks like Julie Campbell’s Congrats Grad Gift Bag on pg. 27 got published with the wrong sketch! {I think it belongs on the pp.28-29 spread for the second sketch ;) }

Oh, and now I see that her Daddy card on pg. 29 (the second sketch) probably should have been published with the first sketch, on the pp. 26-27 spread.

    Here’s another boo-boo I found:

In the Scrap and Paper Shop ad on page 85, the price for Get Inspired: Card Creations (sku #PC21211) is incorrectly listed as $14.99. The actual price is $5.99.

  17. Charlene M. says:

Looks like Julie Campbell’s projects were switched. The bag and card need to be swapped around.

  18. naz says:

The sketches were switched. No biggie…I think we all figured it out really quickly. Thanks for the chance to win another cool magazine!!!

  19. Tammy Capone says:

The sketches for Julie Campbell’s two projects were switched. They do not line up with the appropriate sketches. Thanks for the chance to win!

  20. Cheryl R says:

Good thing I didn’t have to wait for my actual copy that hasn’t been delivered yet, but the digital copy is very clear: the Grad bag and the Daddy card should be switched to match their sketches.

  21. Ren-Yi says:

Julie Campbell’s projects had a mixup on page 27 and 29; they should be swapped out. Thanks for a chance to sneak a copy of the sketches book.

  22. Mary B. says:

I first noticed that there were no step- by- step instructions for the cards on pp.27 and 29, but I do know that this has been the case sometimes in other issues. After studying more closely–I did notice that Julie Campbell’s grad gift bag and Daddy card were switched under the two different sketch designs—no biggie tho. I really don’t ever notice errors in your awesome magazine. Thanks for all the inspiration and chance to win.

  23. N@ Ali says:

Julie Campbell’s Grad bag and Daddy card should be switched to match their sketches

This is a great issue! The gift bag & card from Julie Campbell should of been switched to match the sketches. Thanks for the chance to win!

  26. ava says:

The sketches for Julie Campbell’s two projects were switched. They do not line up with the inspirational sketches. We all love the switch-up, your readers are reading the details and that is a good thing as martha would say!!! wink wink

The card and gift bag sketches by julie Campbell were switched haha… the magazine is amazing as per the usual, still oohing and awing over all the beautiful projects!

  29. I didn’t notice an error at first but when I went back to look I noticed that the sketches for two of the projects were swapped! :)

  30. Janet Sisk says:

Julie’s projects on pages 27 and 29 were mistakenly switched and printed under the wrong sketches. Oh, well – nobody’s perfect! :D Thanks for a chance to win a fab prize! :D

  31. agnes says:

I agree with the bag should be on page29 and the daddy card should be on page27. I also noticed the lack of instructions and the bag handles are cut off.
no matter what, I love my paper crafts mag.

  32. Kristin_G says:

I haven’t received my issue in the mail yet :(

  33. Chunyuan says:
