“Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.”
~Kermit the Frog
As you read about me the other day, I have a special attachment to Miss Piggy, so by association, I’m a fan of Kermit as well. And it just so happens that he introduced my topic today. That’s right, I’m going to talk about rainbow colors!
You might remember that our March/April issue included the feature You Color My World (a favorite of the editors and the Go-to Gals alike). It was filled with cards and paper-crafted projects filled with rainbowy springtime cheer like this card by Tessa Buys:

What’s that you say? You don’t remember seeing that in the issue? Why yes, you’re right. Our digital issues contain much more content than appears in the paper magazine. Sometimes nearly 25 more projects! We certainly don’t mean for it to be a secret, but even some of our Go-to Gals had never looked at the digital issue until we asked them to in preparation for our annual Editorial Board Meeting (they are here RIGHT NOW!).
If you are a subscriber, the digital magazine issue is FREE to you and has lots of great benefits. You can sign up for it here. You can also click on Magazines on the plum navigation bar right up there and then click Access Current Digital Issue to get started.
But let’s get back to those rainbows…
Our March Gallery Challenge theme was based on the colorful feature in the magazine, and the gallery is filled with over 200 vibrant projects! What a feast for the eyes—the winners were announced here.
If you’re a pinner on Pinterest (do you follow us there? Come join us!), you might have noticed this colorful trend popping up in fashion, home décor, hair, accessories, etc. And there are card makers out there who have embraced the saturated colors of the rainbow in their projects.
One of my current color heroes is Laura Bassen, Stamping Royalty 2012 winner and Gallery Idol 2011 Top 15. Cruise around Pinterest looking at cards created by Laura, and you’ll find beauties like this and like this. Laura stuns me with her clever and creative uses of color.
Pinterest also introduces me to new card makers who have a flair for color. Check out this stunning and colorful card by Lisa Addesa that I stumbled upon earlier this month.

Colorful Happy Birthday Card by Lisa Addesa
Goodness! I just adore all of that delicious ribbony happiness in an array of gorgeous colors! I loved it so much, I thought I’d attempt to make my own version of it.

Colorful Hello Card by Susan R. Opel
I couldn’t quite capture the glory of Lisa’s bow, but the colors, the font, the texture, the design are all there—and my ever-present bling made it into the equation. Thanks to Lisa for her fabulous inspiration. Can’t wait to see more from her!

TFS!
I love the rainbows! Made a cute kid’s art journal with rainbow stripes for the March gallery. It’s almost too pretty to use!
They are using that song on the Sainsburys ad over here in the UK, I’d never even heard of it before the other day – what a coincidence!
Ready to get started on my homework right after dinner.
Love the Colorful Thanks Card by Tessa Buys. It’s really beautiful. Great job!
I’ve just been browsing the digital edition. Thanks so much for marking the exclusive digital projects! Very nice! I also enjoyed viewing Lisa’s blog. Lots of pretty inspiration there.
