Today is Nerd Pride Day! Are you a nerd? I’m a believer that all of us are nerds in one way or another (maybe we are all crafting nerds??), and today is a day to celebrate it!

Yep, I live with a family of nerds! My hubby is an engineer “nerd”, my kids are both computer/techno “nerds”, future son-in-law in that category as well, I’m a medical/crafty nerd—and thanks to the other “nerds” they’ve taught me a fair amount of what’s involved to be a computer nerd. We are all “music” nerds as well!

There are two nerdy people here at my home . . . my hubby and son! It is all things “graphic and computers”!

I’m a nerd in a number of ways, from a whole family of nerds! I love sci-fi, my favorite new tv series is the Masterpiece Theater Sherlock Holmes, and I have a TON of nerd-related tees from places like ThinkGeek, Teefury and Woot, but my particular area of nerd expertise is music. And I mean the classical kind: opera, art songs, orchestral music, piano music, you name it. Music history, music theory, all of it! It was my major in college and I love it to distraction! I married a nerd and had a bunch of little nerds too…in fact my son’s latest acquisition is a pair of those black framed glasses that he popped the lenses out of and wears just for fun (oh and yes he dresses up like Doctor Who!). Is that nerdy enough for you? If not there’s more where that came from!
So I had to look up exactly what nerd means! Since “An intelligent, single-minded expert in a particular technical discipline or profession.” seems to be the best one I found, I guess I am a Paper crafting, rubber stamping, Copic colouring nerd!! However, I think the slang meaning which I didn’t see online was love of an unusual or not mainstream thing or topic, I am also a Sci-fi nerd, zombie-lovin’ nerd and a flashlight nerd. I have a strange love of cool flashlights. Any one with some attribute or function beyond the basic white bean excited me in a freakishly strange way!! Weird right?
I’m nerdy about Star Trek TV shows and movies, and I’m also an accounting and numbers nerd.
Well, I think I qualify in the “nerd” department….LOVE all things SciFi and the ScFy channel is the staple in our house every weekend….that or Mythbusters….lol. It’s actually on right now….lol. And also, definitely a paper crafting “nerd”…..never met a paper, marker, or embellishment I didn’t like….lol.
I’m nerdy with my boys and their friends. It actually helps bridge the communication gap between me and the junior highers!
