Have you ever used the image of a bicycle in any of the cards you’ve made? If you haven’t, now’s the time to do it! Why? Because May is National Bike Month!
It’s true. And in case you were wondering, May 18th (this very Friday) is Ride Your Bike to Work Day! So if you’ve been thinking about whipping yourself into shape lately or going a little more green, now you have the perfect reason!
And because it happens to be Bike Month, I want to share with you a cute card by our very own Go-to Gal Jennifer McGuire from our May/June issue that includes a cute bike image!

Great card & stamp!! I learned to ride on an old classic bike. It seemed huge at the time but nothing I didn’t master. My Dad helped me in the way most Dad’s then did. You get your feet on the pedals and he pushes you along and then just lets go. I had plenty of scabbed knees & elbows at first. And, no, we didn’t use any protection then. We just had a lot of band-aids!
I was 10 before I got my first (and only) bike for Christmas. We finally lived somewhere I had a paved driveway and a dead end street nearby where I could safely ride. I spent hours and hours on my bike as a child and young teen-ager.
I grew up on a farm where we had no paved roads or sidewalks to ride on, so I learned in the grass and on the gravel road and driveway. I remember riding my bike into a pear tree in the yard!
My grandfather taught me how to ride a bike. He was so patient. He always smoked a corn cob pipe and he wanted to show me how it was done. He rode a little way and crashed into a pole. When he fell off he never let go of the pipe, it was still clenched in his teeth. He didn’t get hurt and to this day (that was more than 60 years ago) I still smile when I think about it.
I started on a trike then training wheel and when they came off, well lots of trial and error. We are hoping to start riding again this summer, its’ been a while! Fabulous card and stamp
Great bicycle card. My dad helped me learn to ride a bike.
Sad news: I NEVER LEARNED TO RIDE A BIKE! NEVER!
My father is a “slightly” old fashioned, old world Cuban man and girls don’t ride bikes, as far as he’s concerned. Sad for me!
There’s always a tricycle!
I learned when I was seven in my cul-de-sac with my dad running behind me. The bike was purple with rainbows and streamers. Very ’80′s!
The bicycle cards are awesome. The spring looking one catches your eye & certainly brings back memories of your lst bike. My mom & I learned to ride bikes at the same time – that was so much fun. She would ride with me around the block at that time & then we moved to the country sortof & we would ride the streets in the area it was an awesome time spent with my Mom.
The sepia card with the bike gives you that antique look that many of us look for when trying to make our cards different than every elses.
Thanks for the marvelous ideas.
I learned how to ride a bike on a gravel road near my grandparents house…several bandaids later, I did master it, but I really recommend pavement for learning on!
Cute stamp, I do not remember at all when or how I learned to ride a bike. Thanks for a chance to win anyway, though.
I got my first Schwinn bike in the early 70′s and I still have it today!
My first bike was a gift for my First Communion. It was red and during the
summer we would ride all over the neighbor, being kids and having fun.
I remember have all of our bikes, from two-wheeler to tricycle (4 of us) outside our front door so we were ready to ride. I think my mother even has a picture of all of us with our bikes.
I remember my parents taking turns, bent over the bike, holding it and running with me pedaling, trying to get the hang of it. It seemed to take forever, but finally on one of those summer evenings, suddenly, I was pedaling away from Mom. I still remember how that felt !
My fab card is the sepia card. Love the look.
My wonderful Dad taught me to ride my bike. I remember him holding on alongside and runnig up & down the block. I just lost him last week and really needed that wondrful thot. Thx.
My son just rode his bike without training wheels today and LOVES it! What a great stamp.
I grew up in Stuyvesant Town, an apartment complex on the lower East Side in New York City. Another family gave mine a used bike, and that is what I learned to ride on – zipping around on the concrete paths that were edged with grass. Sadly, my bike was stolen from the “carriage room” a big storeroom on the ground level where you could store bicycles and baby carriages. Now I have an awesome recumbent bike, bright blue, and I love zipping down the trail on an abandoned railroad bed with the wind whipping my hair. Happy Bike Month!
I learned how to ride a bike on a gravel road – lots of skinned knees before I was able to take off on my own!
What a great month for bicycle celebration, both my daughter and her best friend were able to take the training wheels off of their bikes and ride on their own this month. There’s no stopping them now!
What a cute stamp!
I learned to ride my mothers old schwinn stingray bike. I was maybe 10 or so. I had so many bumps and brusies from that thing lol. The really cool thing is that my mom still has it so my husband and I are planing on doing a little restoration so that our son can ride it one day.
Neat stamp!
I learned to ride a bike after I purchased my first one–I was 7 or 8 and “earned” the money for it by washing dishes–and it took a whole year of washing dishes and saving the money for it to buy it. I started by riding on the grass and then worked up to going around the block–but I couldn’t figure out how to work the break and I think ran into someone! How embarrassing!
Like so many other things, my dear grandfather taught me to ride a bike. He promised not to let go until I was ready…and he never did. Such a sweet memory of a very sweet man.
i learned to ride a bike when i was about 5. the boy across the street had a bike. i think it was green and old. by trial and error, i learned. no training wheels, and no bike of my own at the time.
I learned on the sidewalks near our house…lots of skidding…sliding…wrecks and tears. I survived and spent many hours riding around the neighborhood being proud.
I don’t remember the details of learning to ride. It was so long ago, we didn’t have training wheels. My cousin and I got identical bikes for Christmas one year. We probably helped each other learn. I love the bike trend right now. My hubby and I take our bikes on vacation. We’ve had many happy times on our bikes. Thanks for a chance to win.
Fun little stamp!
Reminds me of my 1960 Schwinn. My husband calls it my “clunker”, but I love that bike!
I learned on a dirt road, no less!!! My sister had tried to help me, but I really couldn’t get the hang of it, until I went to my cousin’s house that summer. She had a bike with training wheels and a sidewalk! Made it easy, and I was off!! No problems after getting back home either. But at least my sister had tried and that is why I love her so much!!
My brother tought me to ride my first bike, and as far as i know he tought my 5 other sisters, being the only boy with 6 sisters we learned alot from our big brother, this contest brings back some wonderful memories, thank u…
Simply Beautiful Stamp!!
It’s been so long since I learned to ride a bike! I don’t remember how I learned, but I know that I rode my bike everywhere, as a kid,,,,and we always had so much fun!!
Jennifer’s card is adorable and what a fun stamp from Inkadinkado! Totally remember being so excited when I got my first “used” bicycle and started riding with training wheels. Once I felt comfortable I was anxious to ride on my own (without the training wheels) up and down our street. Those were the good old days!

Learning to ride a bike – just sitting on the seat with my legs out to the side and coasting. Balance came quickly just coasting (my legs were like side wheels or brakes). One leg up for some push power, coast, 2 legs pedaling. And then I was around the block riding my bike!!! Love the stamp. So both are easy to love – biking and stamping.
