Christmas in July

Holly blog shot 221x300 Christmas in July

Holly Anderson

It’s July.

And while that means swimming, vacations, lemonade, sunshine, and sports to most people, July can also bring feelings of Christmas cheer! And I’d like to spread that Christmas-in-July cheer by giving away a fun Christmas gift to one of you—a countdown calendar from Karen Foster and a Christmas collection from TPC Studio. With these you can happily craft yourself into oblivion before the crazy holiday season.

What I am looking forwad to with the holidays is watching how much fun my kids have with them. Everything is so magical to them, it really makes me happy. It is always fun to think about how different they were only one year ago, and holidays are so memorable that it makes t easy to make those comparisons.

With the 100 degree weather, thinking of Christmas gives me a little chill. Thinking of watching falling snow, the smell of pine needles and the taste of cool peppermint candy canes. I love Christmas, just ask my family, as I snap pictures during the holiday seasons of every moment I don’t want to forget. Celebrating the birth of Jesus is the reason for the season & we should not leave this out in our scrapbooks.

Every year before Christmas my extended family gets together and bakes some of my Grandma’s favorite Norwegian goodie recipes. We do this every year the weekend of Thanksgiving. Last year Grandma was with us on that day but was called to her heavenly home right before Christmas. Last year we did this traditional event twice, and served all of her favorite recipes at her funeral. I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t have served any of it, as it didn’t look like hers did but am sure that she would have appreciated the gesture.
This year will be hard without her but will be bittersweet in keeping the tradition going.
