Groovin’ with the Go-to Gals: Trend-spotting at CHA

Teri Anderson

Hi friends! I just got back from a whirlwind trip to Chicago for CHA-Summer!

If you have never ever been to one of the Craft and Hobby Association’s big trade shows before, let me tell you what it’s like. Just imagine walking into a really big convention hall filled with crafting supplies as far as the eye can see. There are papers, stickers, stamps, and everything in between that you can make stuff with.

I like to say that it’s kind of like going to craft heaven. And believe me when I say that it is a rough life getting to go. (Wink!)

Since not all you could walk the floor with me, I wanted to share with you some of the trends I spotted over and over during last week’s show.

Owls

Talk about a trend that’s a hoot! From Halloween-themed owls to owls with Santa caps, there were a number of companies who showed off products with wise little guys.

Roses

Oh, la la. I love roses, and I loved seeing many companies include these beautiful flowers on the patterned papers they displayed during the show.

Snapshots

I spotted lots and lots of snapshots. They came on patterned papers and as die-cuts, stamps, and even stickers.

Arrows

I’d like to point you the way of another fun trend: Arrows. This pointed little design element found its way onto patterned papers and in stamp sets.

Conversation Bubbles

As fun as it was to see all these trendy products debut, I couldn’t wait to get home and make a card that uses three of the trends I mentioned (owls, snapshots, and conversation bubbles).
