Cheerio, fellow crafters! Today marks the official beginning of the 2012 Olympic Games in London! Are you all set?

I’ve talked to several friends who say they’re ready to deprive themselves of sleep to stay up watching the Olympics this year. I’m a bit stoked myself. Oh, what fun!

So, to get you all in the spirit of the games, here’s a card that our very own Susan Opel made; I thought it quite fitting.

And I bet you don’t know which issue this little gem comes from. It is published in our newest special issue, Card Design Handbook! Actually, it isn’t on sale quite yet, but don’t you worry; it will be soon!

If you’ve ever wondered about the “rules” of design, you’ll want this first-of-its-kind special issue. We’ll show you how to creatively combine colors from all segments of the color wheel and explain basic design concepts like the rule of thirds. You’ll also learn elements of different styles, from fun and cute to classy and elegant with everything in between. There are hundreds of project ideas using these design lessons so you can practice your newfound skill on cards, bags, tags, wraps, home décor, and more.

Yep, this is an awesome issue, and it will be a fantastic resource for years to come.

In fact, here’s a little sneak peek in the meantime: a look into the Table of Contents!

I, too, enjoy the Olympics. I always tell myself I’m going to limit myself, but I get caught up in the track and field, then the gymnastics, then the wrestling and the basketball and cycling, yada yada yada.

It’s always fun to see someone go the extra mile to make a card that is so stunning and way more time consuming than I have time to do. Lovely card, Susan! It’s plain to see from just the Table of Contents that this is not going to be just another card and papercrafting magazine. I’ll keep my eye out for it!!
