I love road trips!
I have many fond memories from my youth traveling in our red and white VW bus to visit various destinations in the Western U.S. I think most of these memories are due to the lack of air conditioning in the van and the stifling heat we’d encounter on the road.
Even so, there was something so fun about seeing new places, driving new roads, listening to good tunes, and eating junk food along the way.
I still love road trips to this day. But, thankfully I don’t have to drive a VW bus, and my car has air conditioning.

Why the trip down memory lane? Well, when we were creating the July/August 2012 Paper Crafts issue, there were several fun cards that got me thinking about my next road trip. Oh, and the designs were inspiring as well.

Road Trip Card p. 45 by Smitha Katti

See you Soon! Card p. 72 by Teri Anderson

Go See Do Card p. 68 by Chan Vuong
This last card has got me thinking that one of these days I may have to turn in my car keys for an airplane ticket and branch out to other locations beyond the western U.S.!
Whether you are inspired to take a road trip or create a card, I hope that you enjoy the summery July/August issue. Leave a comment letting me know your favorite road trip destination and I’ll pick a winner for this Sweet Stamp Shop Across the Miles stamp set.
Comments must be received by Thursday, July 5th at 5 pm MDT.
From a road trip enthusiast,

Favorite road trip is always to visit our children!!!
Our family’s favorite roadtrip is to the beach, with Disney World a close second!
I would love to take a road trip to the Grand Canyon and Yellowstone National park.
Probably the eastern shore in MD. All of my stress goes away after I cross the bay bridge. Thanks for sharing.

I love driving through the Smokie Mountains. The scenery is beautiful! Thanx for the chance to win.
Favorite road destination–to Las Vegas and Southern California where my little grandchildren live!
My favorites roadtrips are to Lexington to see my daughter and Myrtle Beach just to enjoy the beach.
Cute stamp set! Would love to road trip through Yellowstone!
I will always remember our trips through Tennesse and Ketucky. We stayed at an old motel in Gatlinberg with a stream running right outside our door. Such a beautiful trip.
We went on TONS of road trips when I was a kid. Being a military family we usually moved in the summer and that was an opportunity to see the US! There are quite a few places I’ve not had the opportunity to visit and one of them would be Yosemite. My husband has been but not me! My second choice would be Napa Valley, but not with the kids!
when my mother-in-law was alive, we used to take a day trip to the ohio amish country where we would shop for fabric and eat great food.
I live in Southern California. North bound road trips up the coast are such fun with pretty coastal views.
my fav road trip was as a kid my family went from michigan to maine and returned through canada. We camped and slept in a rented van which the back seat folded out into a bed. Those were great memories.
The beach!
Any beach
Kerri, what wonderful memories we all have. I love the photo of the VW bus. My husband and I have had wonderful road trips (Yosemite, Glacier Park, Yellowstone, etc.).. We love Wisconsin-our home state and invite you to come and take a road trip here—lots and lots of green and forests and pasture and fields of corn and waterfalls and Lake Michigan (our ocean). etc. My folks had a 1958 VW bus. We loved it. They put a mattress in the back,on the inside, that we rode on and went to Florida. Kennedy Space Center was Cape Canaveral and I remember just a few rockets and missles. What great memories. Thanks for the chance to win the awesome stamp set. Happy trails to you!!
A favorite road trip to Minnesota about 6 years ago was full of special events as well as sightseeing. Attended the graduation party of my nephew’s daughter, drove along the scenic North Shore, attended my niece’s wedding so saw lots of friends and relatives. On our way back to WA we stopped at Mt. Rushmore, Glacier Park and other gorgeous sites along the way. Any road trip that includes our beautiful National Parks is a winner as we’ve seen several. Thanks for the chance to win the Across the Miles stamp set!
Our favorite road trip it to La Gran Sabana, the vast stretch of open space along the borders of Venezuela, Brazil, and Guyana. First you drive, drive, drive, then you leave your car and hike, hike, hike. Spectacular!
