Well, I’m officially a mother of a teenage daughter—yikes! My daughter is turning 13 this month. And to celebrate this fine moment, we agreed to let her have 5 friends over for a slumber party. I may live to regret this decision but in the meantime, we’ve had fun planning and making invitations together this past weekend.
Like any good crafter, I had Sage, my daughter, turn to our upcoming Card Design Handbook to pick out an inspiration card. She chose Courtney Kelley’s Foxy Friend Card on pg. 47 because she apparently adores foxes.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any foxes in my stamp collection. (I need to rectify this soon!) So we found the next best thing—a gnome from Lawn Fawn’s Gnome Sweet Gnome stamp collection. So cute!
Once we had all of our paper picked out and stamps identified we got down to crafting business. I stamped and cut. . . .
Sage colored and glued. . . .
The cuteness factor of this stamp collection had both of us making all sorts of embarrassing squeals and giggles while we were creating. (Please tell me I’m not the only one that does this.) I guess it got kind of loud because the husband and brothers kept dropping by wondering what we were up to.
Here’s the final invite. Pretty cute stuff if you ask us.
The best part of the whole thing was being able to spend time with my daughter creating something together. Now I just need to survive a gaggle of giggling 13-year-old girls.
Wish me luck!
P.S. Thanks to Lawn Fawn, I happen to have two Gnome Sweet Gnome stamp sets to give away. Leave a comment here by Thursday, August 9th at 5 pm MDT, and I will randomly choose two people to win!

What a great invitation! Glad your daughter did it with you. Love the stamps. Thanks for the chance to win!
These are the best times! Happy Birthday.
I’ve had my eye on that stamp set for a while now. It is so cute. You are a brave mom for hosting a sleepover!
I love crafting with my daughter too–in fact did some today, but she’s a teacher! Using my Pazzles Inspiration cutter, I made titles, signs for her classroom, and tons of plants and animals–from snails to pine trees to road runners! All will be used on her walls and bulletin boards in her classroom. I inked and did details, she assembled and helped design signs. I love your invites–and that stamp set is so cute, would certainly fit in with all the biology stuff we’ve been working on! Crafting with my daughter is a most wonderful thing!
Oh how cute
Spending time crafting with people we love is what makes me love scrap booking!
What a cute invitation!
Happy Birthday, Sage
They turned out super cute and adorable!! I’m kind of looking forward to when my daughter is old enough to sit and craft with me, but also kind of scared for the teen years!!
This is a great idea…getting the job done and having quality time. We did something similar for my daughter’s 13th birthday. We had a sleep over and took tons of pics, i printed like a fiend that evening and then the next day we had a scrapfest and all of the girls made their own party scrapboook. Everyone had a great time and took home a personalized party favor.
What an adorable invitation! So awesome that you had precious quality creative time with your daughter!
My daughter and I made bookmarks together last night. It’s a great way to spend time together. This was her idea, she designed them and I just helped a little. They’re for all the ladies in my book club.
What a cute invitation – that gnome is the cutest! Thanks for the chance to win.
The invitation is adorable, but your daughter is even more adorable! What fun to do this together – enjoy every minute you have with your kids while they are young. It goes by way too fast!!!!
Cute invitation! Good Luck
(I squeal at cute stamps too!!)
This is an adorable set by Lawn Fawn
High 5, Kerri!

It’s great you had girlie time! Such cute invites! Happy Birthday to your lovely daughter.
Lawn Fawn do have the most ridiculously cute stamps and I dont currently own any so if you’d like to rectify this for me…
Love the gnome set. Your invitations turned out so cute!
I love the gnome stamps, so many ideas on how to use them have popped into my head!
What an adorable card and I love the fact that you daughter was so involved with you. My little girl is only 4 so most of our crafting activities are geared towards that age! Welcome to the world of raising teenagers! My son is 13 and as well I can’t believe he will be 14 in 3 months!!!
Mother and daughter – time together – PRICELESS!
Love your card! It is so adorable!! Great way you made them accessembly style, too! Gotta love Lawn Fawn for having such great, fun images!! Perfect for your party invitations! Good call on choosing the gnome!
