Moving Day!

Holly blog shot 221x300 Moving Day!

Holly Anderson

Tomorrow is a big day for me. I’m moving! And I think you all know how that is. It’s a big hassle and a lot of work (and a lot of sweat, especially in the summer), but in the end, it’s typically much better than before. I’m really looking forward to finally getting into a new place, meeting new neighbors, and being closer to the Paper Crafts office.

In accordance with my move, I thought I’d do a little giveaway (I mean, why not??) of some cute, homey papers.

This is the City by the Bay collection by My Little Shoebox. I can see some cute “We’re moving” cards or “Congrats on the new home” cards out of these! Just comment below telling me a brief story about one of your moves for your chance to win!

We live in central Manitoba, Canada. Yes, snow in May is not uncommon. We have only moved once and it just happened to be the May long weekend when we woke up to 3 feet of fresh snow! My husband had to get a tractor to plow the road to our new home. Since then, we have never had another record snowfall like that in May!

  2. Very cute and homey collection. I hope your new home will bring you many blessings.

OH these papers are so adorable. Wow…a move. I cant wait til we have ours. But I know it will be hectic. I just keep thinking about the afterward of all being accomplished to get me thru. :) Good luck in yours.

  5. Wishing you well on the move, I truly hope that it is all you are hoping it to be!

My story is that of when we moved into the apartment we are currently living in. It was May 29, 2010. My niece and nephew and a couple of his friends were moving the new-to- us washer and dryer in. I was just standing there when all of a sudden my right knee decided to twist me and down I went. That hurt like you would not even imagine!
My niece had just finished Nursing School and took over like the true Nurse that she is (Thanks Tiffy!) She made me sit down in one chair we had my McGregor Camping chair and put ice on my knee 20 minutes on and 20 minutes off. I went to the orthopedic doctor I was already seeing for my right shoulder the next day. I had an Xray done. Come to find out I had a really severe Bone Contusion (bone bruise). I ended up in a wheelchair for 3 months :o (

So, yes, this will be “the” move I will remember the most, and not in a happy way!

Have fun moving it is always fun making a new place you own. I have moved a lot of times, I think the worst time to move is during winter. I had some friends helping me move into an apartment on what felt like the coldest day in January. By the time we were done my friend had 3 inch ice cycles hanging from his beard…now that is cold.

We moved to a our new town 6 years ago for my husband’s work. His employer paid for the removalists to pack our house and move our things and we had to unpack. Getting people to pack for you is not necessarily as good as it sounds. They arrived early (before we were ready for the day) and packed the few things that were left out (like a resignation letter for my husband’s volunteer fire brigade), my camera(!) and they managed to distribute my underwear through about 4 large packing boxes (I only have a regular amount of underwear). It took a long while to find everything once we were in out new house.

We’re moving next month and this is a great and timely give-away for me – it will inspire me to make those “we’re moving” cards I need to get out there to family and friends. Best of luck with your move, too!

We had been living in our home for 5 years when our county upgraded their 911 system. In doing so, our house number had changed. I sent out some ‘we moved, but didn’t move’ cards with “The more things change, the more things stay the same” as my sentiment. Lots of housewarming jokes came in, and everyone was glad to update their address books.

  12. Congrats & good luck w/ the move! Thanx 4 the giveaway! ~prhmangel@gmail.com
