I’m so excited that my turn to do a Go-to Gal post just happened to fall during Holiday Cards & More week! This is always one of my favorite special issues and since us Go-to Gals were lucky enough to get in on some of the behind-the-scenes work, it was especially fun to see it in its final glory.
When the Go-to Gals were in Utah for our annual editorial board meeting way back in April, one of the things we did was sit in on the submissions judging for the home décor section of this issue. There were a few projects in this section that caught my eye immediately during submissions judging, and seeing them in final print did not disappoint!
One of the projects that made us all squeal with delight during the judging process was Emily Branch’s Snowman Greetings Globe. How cute is that? And really very simple to do as well! Just the kind of project that makes you say “I wish I’d have thought of that!”
So what sort of holiday home décor projects do you gravitate towards? Do you love quick and simple ideas or do you like intricate projects that you can spend hours on? For me it’s usually more about quick and simple things at that time of year. The holidays always seem to be even busier than usual! So before I go, I thought I’d leave you with the ultimate in quick and easy home décor projects—the paper chain. Did you know it’s making a comeback? In fact, according to a certain preschooler I know, they’ve never really gone out of style! Check it out.

I was inspired by the chain in the upper left corner and decided to pull out a little kraft cardstock and some elegant holiday sentiment stamps from Quietfire Design.
Cut some strips, stamp them if you wish (or just use pretty patterned papers), add a little glue and that’s it—instant holiday décor for your tree, your mantel, your dining room table, or anywhere else you can think to drape your paper chain. I’m sure your kiddos would even love to help, just like mine did!
Like I said, the ultimate in simple! So, do you want to win something fun today? Leave me a comment telling me about your holiday décor style. Is it quick and simple or do you find pleasure in putting hours into the little details? I’ll choose THREE winners to take home a selection of Quietfire Design’s Christmas stamps, and a copy of our new Holiday Cards & More!
All comments must be received by Friday, September 21st at 5 pm MDT.

With all the shopping and other holiday things going on, I usually keep it pretty simple. Mostly use decorations that I’ve had for years, they’re classics so they never go out of style. Thanks for the giveaway, sounds amazing!
elegant and sparkly! the more lights the better
i tend to use gold and burgundys might switch to sliver this year …
I love love love Christmas! Most of my decor consists of past received handmade cards with ornaments made by my kids from years gone by. Looking forward to introducing my nieces to holiday papercrafting projects and your chains are a much classier look to the traditional red and green loops.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
I love reinventing ways to use my decorations. I love the traditional reds and greens with some sparkle!
always tons of red & gold beads on the tree! one year that was all that made it onto the tree, along with the various & assorted angels, & it looked great!
for other decorations the antique cardboard nativity scene, hanging carousel mistletoe, & cardboard mailbox from the 50′s are a must.
thanks for the great prize offering!
Such wonderful decorating ideas!! My style is about in the middle…..I don’t get into too many details, but I do like to spend some time on putting my house together for the holidays. =)
I go fairly simple. I’ve used a lot of white/blue/silver the last few years. I do like to pull out the old handmade items that have a history; I can’t resist the sentimental appeal.
I like to do the fast and simple. I don’t have a lot of time to spend on making decorations so fast and simple is a must.
My Christmas decor style is red and gold, but I keep it pretty simple as it’s a crazy time of year. I pull out my favourite decorations year after year, but I will add to my collection with a new project if I have the time.
