It’s no secret that our latest and greatest special issue, Card Design Handbook, is an amazing resource for discovering the guidelines that help make sure our cards and other paper-crafted projects are designed well.

7734172620 d21c446771 Im Still Gushing Over Card Design Handbook! Here on Paper Crafts Connection, we gave you a week-long glimpse into what the issue has to offer, and I think you could tell that we editors couldn’t be more excited about the concept of this issue and how we were able to communicate it to you, our faithful readers.

In the Moxie Fab World, we have 5 challenges that focus on 5 different lessons on design that can help you not just become aware of those particular elements of design, but give you a chance to try them on and see how they fit into your process. (If you’d like to join us, click HERE.)

BUT, what didn’t get mentioned in any overt fashion throughout the course of our promotional week a couple of weeks ago, is the multitude of really impressive projects the issue has to offer. Setting aside the 24 informative lessons on design, this issue is simply chock full of fantastically striking projects that offer card-making motivation in and of themselves.

And not to beat you over the head with this issue, but I just really can’t go on without showing just a few examples of what I mean.

Take this fabulously fun card by Teri Anderson. It was created for the section on “Rule of Thirds,” but even if you didn’t know or care about the Rule of Thirds, this card rates high on the giddiness scale.

And I don’t know about you, but this card created by Windy Robinson for our Style section representing classy and elegant just drips with gorgeous textures, lavish details, and a color combination that sings!

Enjoy Life Card, p. 145

And last but certainly not least, this masterpiece of a card by Laura Bassen. The colors in this trendy triangular pattern create unspeakable joy—and to think! It’s not even a card from the Color section, but a moxie fab example of a clean and graphic card from our Style section.

Bold Congratulations Card, p. 128

I mean seriously friends, the depth of this special issue is tremendous. From lessons on design to incredible eye candy—you’ll be turning to this issue time after time after time!

That’s me, dog-earing just about everything in this issue for one reason or another,

~Cath

I purchased this issue just last week and already it looks “a little worn” because I’ve looked at it so much! I know that when I get stuck for an idea, I have a go-to place in this issue, because the design principles are there and beautifully illustrated!

  10. Dana says:

Kath thanks to your sharing and drooling over the cards in this mag that I finall went out and bought it. And girl I am really happy that I did. I design cards sometimes without any of these tips in mind. I normally have an eye for colour and design, but to be honest there are so many that I have never taken into consideration that now I might understand why some of my cards never get chosen for magizine calls. Maybe I have a little of one and a lot of another. Maybe my mastering skills are not a lot more mastering. Lol. Whatever the reason, I feel more confident now about creating and even submittting for card calls now that I have this abundance of information in one place, in one magazine. Thanks so much for providing me with this amazing resource. Hugs.

Can I just say that I loved this issue before it even hit the newsstands? As soon as I saw the concept in my inbox, I was excited about it, even if I wasn’t able to participate myself. I really hope this turns into a regular feature in Paper Crafts.

  12. Noreen says:

It was fun to read about your dog ear-ing every page. I have a family member who puts a sticky note on every page to bookmark it – and ends up with sticky notes thickly stuck all around the 3 open sides of the book!

These cards are absolutely terrific and great examples of the lessons you provided for us. I’m still on the lookout for the issue and I will be one of those who has post-it notes all around the pages. I usually end up thinking there’s no need to do that because there’s something fabulous on every page.
