Countdown to World Card Making Day: 5 Days Left!

Welcome to World Card Making Week! All week long we’ll be talking your ear off about this fun holiday! Now perhaps you’ve had the question, “What is World Card Making Day?” “Where did it come from?” “When did it start?”

Well, I’ve got answers.

World Card Making Day is a holiday especially for card makers around the world to celebrate the creativity of handmade cards and the personal connection that they create between friends and family. The holiday also kicks off the holiday card-making season.

The celebration began back in 2006 by Paper Crafts magazine to bring people together at the start of the busiest card-making time of the year. The holiday started off as National Card Making Day that year, but since card making is a worldwide hobby, it quickly morphed into World Card Making Day! This year we’re celebrating its seventh year!

Now, as some of you know, the Paper Crafts team gets together about once a month to craft. This month we decided to take this time to make cards for our World Card Making Day posts this Saturday. (Oh yes, we’re going to share quite a few of our own creations!)

Oh, and don’t worry; we had some good tunes to listen to while crafting. Backstreet Boys to be specific. You know it’s good stuff!

I was trying to cut an oval out of that paper. I found it's harder to do than I thought it would be. . . .

We kind of took over the break room with paper, punches, and embellishments. I’m sure you’ll agree that it’s always surprising how much room you can take up crafting!

I love when we all craft together! Unfortunately, we couldn’t get Matt to join in with us. *wink* But Susan made enough cards to count for two people, so I think we’re good.
