Halloween is coming soon! I can’t wait to hollow out a pumpkin and create something truly wicked! I am also excited to dress up in a Halloween costume. It’s one of my very favorite holidays, because the colors are so fun, the festivities are unique, the decorations so cute, and the candy oh so sweet.
Speaking of candy, look at these Halloween treat containers that appear in our September/October 2012 issue. Wouldn’t they be the perfect party favors or handouts for kids at school? And pretty simple too!

How about this Be Spooky Card by our very own, P. Kelly Smith? She used one of the free downloadable simple sentiments that appeared in the issue to create this card. Plus, you can find the supplies and instructions online!

Last year I was the Black Swan – makeup, tutu, blood red contacts for my eyes and all! I received many compliments. This year I want to be a rubics cube but I’m running out of time to build costume.
A few years ago a friend and I did the coolest thing ever for a Halloween contest. She dressed in a chef’s uniform, complete w/a fake moustache, and pushed a table that was set (a box with a hole in the center covered in a white linen tablecloth). As we approached the judges table, she stopped, lifted the lid off of the platter, which exposed me with an apple in my mouth, my hair slicked back so I looked like the turkey, stuffing all around me…and proceeded to take a ladle and ladled apple juice over my head. We got a second place in the contest!
I’m not dressing up this year, but my favorite costume that I made for my kids one year was a “Yu Gi Oh” card… I painted a card on foam core and he wore as a sandwich sign! Everyone loved it!
Thanks for the chance to win!
The best costume I have seen in quite a while is the one my niece made for her son a couple of years ago; he was a devilled egg. A devil costume with a huge fried egg “shirt”. Really cute! Thanks for the chance to win!
Best costume would have to be a gypsy witch, a few friends and I decorated, did the hair, makeup, dresses and made the yard equally spooky. The neighborhood kids loved it, we had a crystal ball, fog, music…all the gear. Scared a few little ones for sure but we would do it again in a heartbeat. The teenager is toying with the idea this year…time will tell. Thanks for the entry!
I would have to saw my favorite coolest costumes that I made for my daughters when they were 1 and 3 years old. My 3 year old was Dorothy, in which I made from head to toe, including sparkly red shoes. She loved the costume so much, it showed, posing just so in every picture. My 1 year old was the Lion and I managed to find a goldish-yellow heavy sleeper and sewed a tail and a huge mane to it and ironed on a patch for the belly. They were both super adorable!
I like the homemade ones like a laundry basket around the waist and the boy/girl covered in dirty clothes. I grew up poor so one of my best costumes was the box with tinfoil on it to make me a robot! Oh the good ol’ days!
I love Halloween ….I love the colors and embellishments
My favorite costume was when I was a bag of jelly beans
My most favorite costume was a bag-lady costume that I threw together when I was 8 years old.
super simple. Mismatched, dirty clothes!
I love this time of the year and all the HALLOWEEN decorations they are so cool
Love this time of the year Halloween and decorations, costums and treats
Spooktacular prize! Thanks for running all the contests. It’s fun to check out your blog for inspirations for crafting.
The best year was my son dressed up as one of the ghost busters in a jumpsuit and a back pack garden sprayer for his ghost container!
