It’s the first day of a week-long introduction to our latest special issue Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks, and to kick off the festivities I want to give you a little tour of the layout so you can make the most of what the issue has to offer. Ready? Let’s go!
We’ve divided it into three main categories: Creating with Product, Applying Techniques, and Stamping Techniques. Each category contains several approaches to using a product or technique, and each approach features six detailed examples of a specific way to execute it.
For example, in the Creating with Product category, there’s an approach called “Around the House.” The six “lessons” highlight the ways you can use common household items to make an embellishment with a paper clip and ribbon, make patterned paper with a date stamp, steep tea and spritz it on embellishments, stamp confetti with a pencil eraser dipped in paint, create a window with die cut labels dusted with glitter, and make metallic accents with chipboard shapes wrapped in aluminum foil.
Teri Anderson, who created the six lesson squares, also made two projects that use at least two of the ideas. In addition to that, there are also four more projects from Heather Campbell, Kim Kesti, Jennifer Rzasa, and Jaclyn Miller that incorporate one or more of the clever lessons.
One of my favorite sections is the DIY stamping one, which you see on the cover of the issue. The incredibly clever Jocelyn Olson shows you how you can use celery, a wine cork, metal hardware, a remnant from a caned chair, a sponge, and a potato to make unique stamped designs. Yes, the gift bag is stamped with celery and the card features the caned pattern from the chair remnant. Stunning, no? I also adore this card by Sarah J. Moerman:
But that’s not all – in addition to those 198 individual lessons, we’ve also included a Bonus Techniques section, which highlights some favorites of ours from the Paper Crafts 101 columns in regular issues of Paper Crafts magazine. From flowers and felt to fabric and French knots, you’ll find 72 more lessons that I’m sure you’ll love.
I’m all for going big or going home, so I’m putting FIVE copies of this fabulous issue up for grabs. Just leave a comment by 5pm MDT on Wednesday, October 24th letting me know if you’re a stash hoarder or a stash user and I’ll pick five random winners.
Then be sure to head on over to the Moxie Fab World and see what Cath thinks is moxietabulous about this very special publication.
