You may have noticed that Paper Crafts magazine’s news feed doesn’t display very often. The reason is a recent change Facebook made to the algorithm they use to populate your news feed. The adjustment affects businesses such that their news is one of the last items included in your news feed, but you can change this with a simple selection.

In Facebook, go to the Paper Crafts magazine page and find the Liked button near the top. Point to the Liked button, or hover over it, so the menu appears. Click on Show in News Feed to activate the option.

Unfortunately, this is not 100% true. Yes, checking that off will help, but it does not guarantee anyone will see your posts. If I’ve been a fan of yours for a long time, that box is already checked off, and should be automatically checked off if your a new fan (although it isn’t always). The better thing to do if you want to continue to see a page’s updates in your news feed is to interact with them: click like, comment and share. That is what REALLY tells Facebook this page is important to you. This is not a “recent” change, either…Edgerank has been around for well over a year.

Putting this notice on your blog is really smart, though, as your avid readers are more likely to see it here than on Facebook if they haven’t been active in engaging with you there for a while.

I wrote a blog post about this issue recently, if you’re interested in more info: http://owl.li/gorLq

  3. I needed this info.. thanks.

Thanks, Holly….I love Facebook….but sometimes they make me crazy with the way they are always tweaking things. I think they should take up papercrafting…then they would have something more constructive to do than twiddle with my FB page all the time! LOL
