75 Creative Card Challenges Week – Stamp with a Homemade Stamp

Stacy 75 Creative Card Challenges Week – Stamp with a Homemade Stamp

Stacy Croninger

Nothing like a good challenge to bring out the creativity and for me, that’s exactly what my assignment for the 75 Card Challenges blog post did—got the old creative juices flowing.

My lucky draw was challenge #18 – Stamp with a Homemade Stamp. I scoured my house for options, tried several without the result I was hoping for, and settled on carving my design from a cork.

The thing I quickly realized about working with cork is the porous nature doesn’t create clean edges, but my diamond shape seemed okay with the limitation. I used my newly made stamp to create a line of diamonds, layered it over crocheted ribbon, and voila, a card was born.

What a nice card – I am impressed you were able to cut the cork and get that design. I have trouble enough keeping the cork in one piece removing it from the bottle – lol…

  4. Lucy says:

Love the way the card turned out. You could have also carved up one of those nice soft white erasers (I think Staedtler is the brand) or some fruit or a vegetable. I know from experience that apples, potatoes and celery work well. Oh…the possibilities that are in our homes. Since I made my first carved stamp out a potato, I’ve never quit looking for “stamp potential” in just about every item I touch. ;-) Nicely done!
