If there is one thing that I have learned in the last year (with being on the Price is Right, getting married, two moves, and more) it is that a lot can change in just 365 days.
This year I thought it might be fun to keep track with photos, my own 365 photo challenge, but instead of just saving the photos for a digital book at the end I’m going to craft myself a little book as I go. Plus, it will give me a reason to use my new camera from Christmas and to organize my office/craft room.

I’m not going to lie, it’s been hard to find something to take a picture of every single day, but it’s really fun, especially since I’m not really a picture person most of the time. (I still haven’t printed a single picture from my honeymoon, almost a year ago!)
I decided to start with a Smash book, as they seem to be extremely well suited to this kind of quick/fun craft. I also printed out several pictures from my Instagram feed, since I haven’t pulled my new camera out from the box yet.

They’re a little rough, and we’re not very far into the year yet, so there aren’t very many pages, but I’m excited to see where it goes!
What do you think? Is anyone else trying their own 365 Photo Challenge?

I’m actually doing a 365 project online. There is this great site 365project.org. You can sign up for free and post your pictures each day. It’s a great community of photographers at all levels. I tried it last year and got lazy with it, but so far this year I’m doing much better. It’s a fun way to also play with technique and your camera. This is my link as an example: http://365project.org/doodlemama/365/2013-01.
I’m going to try it.
What a neat idea. I would love to do something like this. I’ll have to really think about it for next year…..
I have been taking pictures, as I’m trying to record with Project Life. But I also really, really like the Smash Book idea! I have a couple of them (ahem, still waiting to be used), and this would be a good place to put even more snippets of life, in a little different format! I think I might join you! Thanks!
I was going to do it last year, and never printed one pic! Trying again this year by the month. Maybe this is my year.
I think the Smash book idea is just perfect. I haven’t done any projects like this, but I like the informality of yours so far. It’s got a more personal feel to it than some of the overly glammed up projects I’ve seen.
I am! I downloaded the Day One app for my phone and it ROCKS!! It’s like a journal that you can add pics to and you can even set up reminders to do your entries. Fifteen days into the year and I’ve already taken about 30 pictures!
I’m not, but admire those who are dedicated enough to follow through with it.
neat idea! must be really nice to go back and take a look at it in few years.
Ha! Camera still in the box! Sounds so familiar
I buy lots of things cuz I have to have them, but it takes forever before I get around to organizing enough to pull out another contraption
I’m the same as you about photos too – I’ve tossed the Smash Book around in my head, and I really wish I would do it already!! Years from now it would be so cool to look back on something that documents the everyday life.
I’d never make it, but I’m certainly encouraging you to try. Keep us posted. : )
I don’t typically print pictures, but I love the idea of your Smash book!
Well I have ai have a question: Where do you have your pictures printed? I myself don’t print a lot of pictures because places like Walmart and Walgreens have messed up promoting my pictures pretty well.
And I’ve been tossing this around in my head for awhile now because my husband is set to deploy again and it would be nice to have done do him to take with him. You made it very easy to do and it isn’t all fancy girlie, it’s sweet and simple he would like it better that way thank you.
