One, five, ten, thirteen, sixteen, eighteen, twenty-one, thirty, forty, fifty, and one hundred! What do these numbers have in common? They signify an ending to something great and a beginning of something even better.

I’m talking milestone birthdays, y’all.

I know you have a spouse, cousin, nephew, or close friend about to hit one of these, so why not make an extra special card for that extra special birthday?

Need a little inspiration? Here are a few from our January/February issue.

Oh, and in case you’re wondering, no, you won’t find that last card in the print copy of this issue. It’s only in the exclusive digital content, which you can access if you have a print subscription. Just go to our website and then click on “Access Current Digital Issue (subscribers only)” under the “magazines” tab! Then you can see all the awesome extras.

Aaaaand, how could I let this blog post pass without mentioning that milestone birthdays are what our current gallery challenge are all about? You know I couldn’t. We’re a little low on submissions, so check out the gallery challenge and upload your cards before the deadline on Monday!

Thanks for checking in!

I love these cards! I am having a hard time doing a card for a young boy, I believe he will be 8-9…..what the heck do you put on those cards? He loves sports…but, that is just to un-original…HELP!! LOL….I have looked all over, and still..have no ideas!!!

  2. Lori Barnett says:

I love these ideas! My family is huge…so I need all the help I can get making birthday cards! Everyone loves getting handmade cards…actually…they expect it! LOL!

    Such fun cards :)
I have a question about the gallery challenge that I can’t seem to find the answer to. Do the submissions have to be “new”? I have some cards I could enter but they were made a while ago. Thanks :)

  4. Toni Storie says:

Hmmm, sounds like I had better get busy! I have a “Dirty 30″ party to attend next Saturday and then my sis turns 40 in April!

  5. Helen F. says:

Yep, I am joining the forces here to create some milestone birthday cards. Such a fun issue with great ideas too :)

  6. Lucy says:

The 5-year old kid on a bike card is my favorite. It even looks like it has a “Dick and Jane” story as the background. They’re all going into my idea bank.

  7. Carol Mc says:

Love the cards. Love the big 40.

  8. Love the cards .. thanks for the great ideas.

  9. Phillane says:

I have always said age is just a number and does not contain a expiration date. I have to repeat that this week often as I will be 49 in just a few days. I remind myself it is a celebration that I have lived 49 years. No end in sight;)
I think I will try this challenge and make myself a birthday card. Ha ha. Hope that is allowed?

  10. Dawn Murphy says:

Love phillane’s comment and all the cards look inspiring. I need one for a cousin who’s turning 65 in a few days. As for turning 50 myself shortly., thinking gold fleck or shimmer will do : )
