Feeling the urge to try something new? Well, I have a fun inking technique that might make you think you’ve landed in the 1960s.

Enter: Exhibit A. I like to call it the Tie-Dye look.

pin it button Groovin’ with the Go to Gals: The Tie Dye LookGroovy, huh?! It’s super easy, but you do a need a few supplies to pull off this colorful technique!

You need clear transparencies (I found mine at the office supply store), a dry embossing folder and die-cutting machine, a couple bottles of alcohol ink, and an applicator tool!

Cut your clear transparencies to fit in inside an embossing folder. It is hard to see the transparency here, so you just have to trust me it’s there! By the way, I like to use a decorative tape to hold the transparency in place so it doesn’t move while I emboss it.

Run lines of alcohol ink down the transparency. Don’t worry if the lines aren’t perfect or blend together.

All you need to finish the card is a sentiment and a few embellishments.

I made some and love them. On a couple white cards I stamped a large size over-all script in black and put the transparency over it and that was cool. I also used some of my die cuts and cut out dies in black and added some gemstones to them and put on top of the tie dye piece and they came out great as well. Thanks for shaving.

Hi, I have some alcohol inks sitting on the shelf looking at me. This is making me want to grab them and get inky. I don’t have blending solution so maybe I shall wait, although it looks like it might give a great colour with just the inks. Thanks for the inspiration. Love it
