Jennifer McGuire

Hello, fellow card makers!

As a Go-to Gal, I am sometimes asked by Paper Crafts to make a bunch of “technique tags” that show several ways to use the same product. I LOVE doing this! People often ask me what I do with them after I get them back. Well, that’s easy—I turn them into cards!

I thought I would share cards using some of my former magazine tags. I normally just stamp a fun background and greeting and am good to go. In fact, when I am stumped on how to use small stamp images or tiny embellishments or just want to quickly try out a new technique, I often do the same thing. I simply make a tiny “canvas” (usually 3×4 or 3×3) because a smaller area can be much easier to work in. Then I just add it to a card and voila! Card complete.

How about a few examples? The technique squares on these blue cards were from the special issue called Paper Crafting Tips & Tricks and show ways to use inkpads creatively. On the first card, I swiped inks onto paper directly for a unique background. And to turn it into a card, I just stamped an Impression Obsession Thin Stripes background with Hero Arts Tide Pool Ink.

(Can you tell this is a great way to put your background stamps to good use?)

(Head over here for more information.) On the first, I added a technique tag (showing stamping with Distress Markers) onto a notecard stamped with the Hero Arts Friend Collage background and Thanks a Bunch greeting and just added the technique piece right above it. This is another simple design great for adding small “canvases” to a card.

And we have a giveaway! Leave a comment here by Friday, February 15th at 5 pm MST for your chance to win the Hero Arts Friend Collage background, Looped Circle background and Thanks a Bunch Stamp Set I used above. Enjoy!
