If you haven’t seen it yet, the summer section of Handmade Home Décor is a delightful gathering of bright colors, fancy florals, and summer icons like watermelon, seashells, and picnic accessories.
And of course, this section also has a couple of chore charts ideas because, you know, your kids are out of school for summer and now have plenty of time to help out with chores. If you look closely, you’ll see that one of these chore charts was done by yours truly.

When I was asked to create a chore chart for the summer section, I immediately realized that I wouldn’t be able to use it. Unfortunately I only have one child doing chores around my house, so a chore chart didn’t make much sense. But both of my sisters’ families have three kids each, so I decided to make one each for their birthdays, which are conveniently in the same month. Luckily they chose the same color scheme and combined their chore list into one so it made it a little easier to duplicate the project. What I didn’t appreciate at the time, was the amount of die cutting I would be doing for this project.
To create the tags, I used the Fiskars Fuse. I cranked out what seemed like a bazillion tags duplicating 20 chore tags per kid x 6 kids. Plus, I created several individual tags for bigger chores. Even with all the cranking, the Fuse was a dream to use.
I also borrowed Jennifer Schaerer’s Silhouette Cameo to cut out the lettering. It was my first time using the Cameo and I have to say I was quite pleased with the result. It’s very easy to use once you get the hang of it. I like that you can choose whatever font you want as a cut file. I’m now saving my money to get one of these for myself.
Add a little Mod Podge and the projects were completed. Pretty simple!
If you are a paper crafter, you should try some of these home décor projects to spruce up your home this summer. Here are a couple that are on my list to create.

I’m so glad that I still have time to enter for this awesome give away….had a super busy weekend! I love summer time around here (WA state) because it’s not too hot. A couple of walls in my house look a little too bare…so, a summer project I’d like to do is make some cool decorated canvases using paper and stamps for the walls. I love the bold colors of Fancy Pants collection. Thanks for the chance at winning.
