Did you know April is National Humor Month? I think that means it’s the perfect time to add a little humor to your handmade cards. There’s nothing like a laugh to chase away the gloominess of winter (a winter that just won’t seem to go away here in Iowa!).

So what makes for a great humorous card? I think it’s the perfect pairing of a fun image and clever sentiment, which isn’t always easy to do. Sometimes the best humorous cards have a way of saying something truly funny without saying anything at all!

One fun way to add instant humor is to animate an inanimate object. I just love this little set of Friendly Faces stamps from DeNami Designs.  They’re the perfect size to add to just about any object in my stamp or diecut collection.

My second card was inspired by one of my favorite sources of inspiration—my kids’ closets! They make the cutest t-shirts for kids these days, with punny sentiments and fun images. This punny encouragement/friendship card was inspired by a shirt in my 5-year-old daughter’s closet.

Head over Heels in love with your cards, betsy. And I did make a head over hells card using “wild” animals and wobble stick ons plus giggle marks. Brought a smile to me and a laugh phone call from my crazy friend/recipient.

  2. How totally fun.. i love these.. My funny cards are usually how I create a scene.. I really should buy some funny sentiment..

Such a cute, cute card! I guess my funny card would be the one that I used a Sock Monkey stamp (SU) with the monkey holding a flower! I think I need to practice making more funny cards…LOL! Yours is really sweet though!

I guess my funniest card was using set from The Alley Way that featured a horse and the sentiment said, “wanna horse around?”…perfect for a playful anniversary card! :)
