Groovin’ with the Go-to Gals: Welcome Laura Williams!

Laura Color Groovin with the Go to Gals: Welcome Laura Williams!

Laura Williams

Somebody pinch me.

I dreamed that I was invited to join the Paper Crafts team.

The girl who spends days playing with paper, and PlayDoh, and Legos.

The girl without a craft room, or lots of fancy tools.

Invited to join the Paper Crafts team as a Go-to Gal.

Sharing my work in Paper Crafts and inspiring others simply by doing what I do is pretty much the most exciting thing I can think of. Since this is my first blog post at Paper Crafts, I thought I’d introduce myself through some of my favorite cards. I think they say a lot about me!

White space makes me happy in card making and in real life. In my everyday life, clutter makes me crazy, and generally my cards are pretty uncluttered as well.

The exception to my quick-card-making tendencies is paper-piecing. Cutting miniscule stamped pieces and gluing them together to create a crisp, colorful image is strangely satisfying!

The bright colors on this card, featured in Stamp It! Cards 2010, make me deliriously happy. And have I mentioned that I {super puffy heart} polka dots? I love the contrast of the paper-pieced image and dotted ribbon balanced with the clean space on this card.

My little chalkboard card is important to me for two reasons. First, it didn’t come easily. I know I’m not the only one who gets completely stuck sometimes, and I just can’t seem to glue two pieces of paper together properly. I persevered through my frustration and this card finally came together, even becoming a cover card on the first Stamp It! 3 Ways issue. My first magazine cover was a pretty amazing reward for a much-fought-for card.
